Hey Jennifer! Yes! My favorites are Talking, Drawing, and Writing, (the author escapes me at the moment) and Literacy Work Stations (Debbie Diller). Kindergarten in Photographs by Scholastic is a great book for 1st year Kinder teachers too. I started using Lucy Calkins guide to the Reading and Writing Workshop this year (she has books for each specific grade level) and I found that very helpful as well. Hope that helps :)

I noticed you used a specific author in one of your units. Did you have to get copy rite permission or am I being too nervous or hesitant about this whole trade mark/copy rite situation. Hi Laurie! Book titles or character names cannot be copyrighted, so you are permitted to use them in a product (there are some exceptions though like Seuss and Pete the Cat...I also think Eric Carle is off limits but you will want to check his website for sure). You can not use images from a book or book covers. There is some good information out there for sellers if you look on your dashboard under information & resources. You will find lots of copyright info by reading through the seller newsletter archive. Hope that helps!

Hi! Yes! The Blends Bundle is for L, R, and S blends (no digraphs) and for each blend there are 6 different centers + more options for differentiation. There is an intro activity for each blend plus sorts, graphing, anchor charts, & centers with recording sheets. They would definitely work really well together though! (I am using the Blends Bundle materials along with the magnetic letter center in my classroom for centers). Let me know if you'd like me to clarify further! :)

Do you file them in folders, use binders, totes or hanging bags? I started to use hanging bags, but it is becoming a little out of control. I've bought book-sized bags from the Dollar Spot at Target and have sorted books with lessons in each bag. I then have marked the bag with a tag, put a shower curtain ring on each bag and hang them on a 2-barred wardrobe rack (at home - I'm a reading specialist and have a tiny office at school). I'm just wondering what you have found to be the best way to manage all of the pieces, parts, etc. Thank You! Cathy

Hi Cathy! Thanks so much, I really appreciate your kind words. For short term, I have all of my centers set up in plastic baskets (dollar tree) with the small pieces in either ziplock baggies or cups. I have a nice long 2-tiered shelf that can hold about 10 baskets.
For long term-- I only store the laminated stuff (reusable pieces. etc.) in gallon ziplock baggies and those are stored in folders in a filing cabinet. This is not the best because the folders can only hold so much and the larger stuff gets bent. I think at the end of the year I am going to try to reorganize my materials like a colleague of mine does--using large plastic totes that are labeled with the unit/month and keep all of the materials in there. The paper copy stuff I do not keep-- I have everything saved in separate folders on my computer, organized by subject/season/theme. So when I am planning I go into my computer first and print off a master copy of whichever activity I want. Then pull the baggies from my files. I can't imagine having to keep things at home year round! Anyway, I hope this helps! Maybe we can reorganize together! Let me know if you get a great idea! :)

Glitter Meets Glue Designs (TpT Seller)
What about a set whose color palette is rainbow in color with touches of glitter but whose patterns vary, say, like chevron, polka dots, argyle, stripes, etc? Is the concept of a rainbow colored set too thematic for you?

Love your stuff - Thanks so much!!! Could you make the sight word art and/or the sight word construction with the Fry word list?? Thanks for considering the idea. We use the k and 1st Fry sight word list and it is a bit different from the Dolch. Just an idea!

Hi! I was wondering if you would consider selling both the pre-primer and primer units as a "package." I was just looking through the word lists, and our school teaches a mixture of words from each unit. I actually would love to purchase them today if that is possible. Hi! Yes! I just couldn't get to them this year, however I will definitely have a Christmas and Winter pack for 1st grade by next fall. I am working on my spring common core packs for K and 1 right now and my goal is to have them finished by early February. I do want to tell you that I plan to update the Halloween and Thanksgiving packs and add a few things to each this summer.Thanks so much! :)

Thanks so much, I am SO glad that you like the materials! Although its a wonderful idea, I am not planning to make an author study for Dr. Seuss. "The Seusses" actually forbid people from using their book titles, character names, or pictures. Technically its against their trademark to even say "Grinch" in print anywhere! They are kinda grinchy themselves :P Sorry, wish I could help! I appreciate you stopping by my store, I hope I can help you with something again in the future! :)

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I am in my 10th year teaching in a public elementary school, the last 2 years teaching Kindergarten. I absolutely love, love, love this age! Prior to K, I worked as a Math intervention teacher for grades 2, 3, 4, and 5. As a child I always wanted to be a teacher. A special gift that my parents gave me when I started teaching was a framed piece of work that I had done in Kindergarten, on which my teacher wrote "When I grow up I want to be..." and after that was written "teacher" with a picture I had drawn of me as the teacher. Even in Kindergarten I knew what I was meant to do! :)
MY TEACHING STYLE
I just love when my kids and I are having fun together while learning. We sing, dance, and laugh every day. It makes learning so much more exciting! The most important thing in my mind is for the kids to go home with a smile on their face. I think my job in kindergarten is so important because it sets the tone for the rest of their educational career. I want them to know that learning is fun.
