I am in my 10th year teaching in a public elementary school, the last 2 years teaching Kindergarten. I absolutely love, love, love this age! Prior to K, I worked as a Math intervention teacher for grades 2, 3, 4, and 5. As a child I always wanted to be a teacher. A special gift that my parents gave me when I started teaching was a framed piece of work that I had done in Kindergarten, on which my teacher wrote "When I grow up I want to be..." and after that was written "teacher" with a picture I had drawn of me as the teacher. Even in Kindergarten I knew what I was meant to do! :)
I just love when my kids and I are having fun together while learning. We sing, dance, and laugh every day. It makes learning so much more exciting! The most important thing in my mind is for the kids to go home with a smile on their face. I think my job in kindergarten is so important because it sets the tone for the rest of their educational career. I want them to know that learning is fun.
My best honor yet? Being a mom to my 2 little munchkins! :)
I have my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education, as well as a Master's Degree in Childhood Education.
I live with my husband Bob and our two children Brady (4) and Reese (2). We love to travel and do anything outdoors!
