I've been teaching since 1992, having taught all grade levels at one time or another, from Kindergarten up to what I teach now, 5th snd 6th grade Gifted and Talented students. Currently, my main teaching responsibilities include 6th Grade Math, Pre-Algebra, 5th and 6th grade Science, Social Studies - World History, and Current Events. I am a state presenter at Michigan Social Studies Conferences and hold copyrights to many of the materials I have developed for my classroom to prepare students for the Social Studies MEAP (Michigan Educational Assessment Program). I am also a Teacher Consultant for the Michigan Geographic Alliance. I provide Professional Development for teachers in my district, as well as surrounding districts. I have also taught undergraduate, 300 level reading courses for prospective teachers for Eastern Michigan University and am a former teaching methods instructor for The Univeristy of Michigan-Flint.
My teaching style is what I term "direct teaching." I engage my students in discussions about important topics, facilitate critical thinking, and encourage my students to ask questions. While I am sure to cover the required state and district grade level curriculum, I provide my students with many enriching and interesting topics and concepts that are relevant to their lives and the curriculum we cover in class.

I am a single mother of three great kids. I live in the district in which I teach and am very involved in the community. My personal joys make me a more compassionate and devoted educator, as I always do for my students what I would want for my own children.
