I've been teaching for ten years at the college level (UVM freshman comp); at private schools (Quaker school in MD); and now at a public school (State College, PA).
I believe in rigorous curriculum, but having it be student-centered. I would always rather see students make interesting connections between classic literature and pop culture than have them completely disinterested.
