I just downloaded the Critical Thinking: A Crime Scene and most of the links are not working!!!!! I've tried opening them from the word document and copying and pasting them, no luck. It was an expensive download and it is unfortunately for not.... How can we resolve this?

Well, Stacey, that is good to know! No one has ever mentioned it, but it's a good reminder that technology is more dynamic than we even know. Let me look at the product and the links tonight and I will have a better idea how to respond. Thanks for letting me know and I will get back to you tomorrow.
Stacey, if you can send me your email address, I will send you the original documents and new links to replace the ones that don't work. I apologize for the frustration and appreciate your telling me about the situation.
Thanks!

I am so sorry. I have been systematically going through my projects and revising for issues relative to your questions. I have been revising in order of popularity and The House of Mirth is apparently only popular to a very small percentage (myself included; I count this novel as my favorite book), so I apologize! I used the Dover Thrift edition; here is a link: http://www.amazon.com/House-Mirth-Dover-Thrift-Editions/dp/0486420493/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1370981703&sr=1-1&keywords=house+of+mirth. Frank,
I developed the unit for a psychology 101 class at a four-year college that originated as a trade school. The greatest percentage of our students major in criminal justice. I do not know the demographics of your students, but I will say that I believe the higher the student ability the more suitable this item is as an individual project.
Let me know if this does not answer your question.

In the unit, I give several ways to work with the material. The way I have found to work best depends on the dynamic of your class. Small groups work best if you have students who cooperate well and/or if the class is large. If you have a small group, they may need to work individually. There is a lot of information in the unit; I do realize you need to familiarize yourself with every piece, which takes time. The thing is that you have to know what each piece means so you know how best to distribute tasks to the students or groups.
Here is a list of possible tasks:
Victim Specialist – someone who knows everything in the resources relative to the victim
Suspect Specialists – same as above
Evidence Experts – for memos and/or photos
Experts Witnesses – on the various outside resources you may use
Cartographer – someone who creates a map of the homes of the persons involved
Linguist – someone who analyzes the language, syntax, and semantics of the messages and/or memos

I made up these titles. You can use whatever you like. Does this help?

Hello. I am the parent of a home-school student in Maryland who is about to begin the 11th grade. I am very impressed with your novel study products. The one issue that has been problematic for me has been the grading of essays, papers, and other assignments that are not objective in nature. While I grade using standard rubrics, grading is still a source of tension between my daughter and I. To that end, I am wondering if you would consider providing an assignment grading service for some of the subjective assignments that are included in the products you sell on this site. I would happily pay you an hourly rate for your work, as I think it would be much easier to simply have someone who regularly grades these assignments for whole classes do the grading. That way I could assign the work, and my daughter could not consider me the "bad guy" with respect to any grading comments or decisions that are made.

Please reply here, or email me at bajdmba@gmail.com if you have any interest.

Thanks!

Hi, John, I don't really produce ESL resources. I simply taught some of what our district terms "basic" level classes in which over 50% of the students had "graduated" from the ESL program and were then placed in the regular ed classroom. My most recent product is slated as a possible ESL material because I used it successfully in a couple of my basic classes. I appreciate the offer, though. Kate

I purchased the test, but no matter how many times I try to download the answer key, nothing happens.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Presently: Adjunct Faculty, Westwood College. Previously taught high school English in Virginia Public Schools for 8 years.

MY TEACHING STYLE

What matters more to me than anything else is instilling my students with a love for learning: the kind of authentic learning that is actually self-discovery. School should be experiential and as such utilize hands-on type instruction as often as possible. Textbooks are resources and cannot be expected to address all classroom dynamics and learning styles, therefore, about 95% of the time, I create my own lessons, projects, activities and assessments. The most important aspect of teaching is creating an environment which supports students on an individualized basis, so that every student feels promoted, argued for, held up and kept going in a dynamic and situational fashion. Knowledge of true support requires applying psychological principles to learning, The better I understand my students' minds and lives, the greater advances I can make in their academic receptivity. This understanding requires examining cognitive and behavioral functions as well as a knowledge of developmental psychology in order to assist students in using their own internal resources to achieve their goals
