My Teaching Experience

I have taught all levels of English/Language Arts to grades 9-11 in a public school setting (special ed, on-level, honors, and Advanced Placement). I am now working at the new Spring ISD Career Academy that integrates various career and technology courses into the academics. I have trained numerous teachers in "Project Integration", which integrates various subjects into the teacher's primary curriculum through hands-on, project-based learning. I was nominated for the Disneyhand Creative Teaching Award, and have won awards at the school level.

My Teaching Style

My teaching style is very hands-on, project based learning. Typically students will begin with a warm-up (15 minutes), be involved with a literature lesson (15 minutes), then finally engage in their respective project of choice for the remainder of the class time. Even if you have state mandated skills to teach, such as I do in Texas, you will find that these projects listed will typically incorporate an average of 20 required skills.
