I am back in the recording studio on Saturday and should have 3 more songs very soon that teach nouns, verbs, and other language arts skills:-) I also have some new songs/limericks on teaching inferring and poetry that are almost finished. I am going to release them as soon as I finish them this time. Check back in 2-3

Yes. They run on Quick Time and do not require any type of interactive whiteboard software. Most computers have Quick Time on them. It is a free download to run this type of multimedia file, so you can download it for free if you don't. I also put them on my classroom student computers for the students to use as a supported reading activity. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for visiting my store.

Are you on a Mac computer? Here are the directions that I pulled from the "My Purchases" page your TpT page. "If you purchased a PDF and it is blurry after you open it, solve it this way: on a MAC or PC, install the latest version of ADOBE READER. Then, open the file with ADOBE READER. That's it. On a MAC, make sure to "Open With" ADOBE READER and NOT Preview. If it's still blurry, that's because you are still opening it with Preview."

I have a Mac so here is how I do it. I download the file and then do the control button and then the right click. It will say open with and Preview will show. If you look down, it should have ADOBE as an option. Choose ADOBE. Then the blurry images will disappear. Sometimes the text boxes do that on a Mac. It will ask if you want to change your default to ADOBE. I choose no. When I encounter the blurry images again (depends on the shapes and the font chosen), then I will open with ADOBE. I hope that makes sense to you. If you need more help, you can email me at: kathytps@aol.com

Thank you for purchasing one of my products. My students love to play the games.

So sorry but this question just posted. The packet has them creating a book of nonfiction text features based on themselves as the subject and then it has a booklet to locate/record nonfiction text features they find in the print in the classroom books/materials. Each has a place to either write or perhaps tape the nonfictiom text feature (if it is a Scholastic type magazine). Then there are also sheets were they can record the text feature found and how it helped them understand the text more which I used as a research independent recording activity. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

It works on any board. Whatever displays on your computer that you have connected to the board appears on your board. It does not use any interactive whiteboard software, but you do need to have Quick Time on your computer as it is a Quick Time file. You can download Quick Time for free if it is not on your computer. You can download the preview file on your computer at school if you are concerned about whether it will work. Have you looked at the preview file on the computer you are using now? If you have any more questions, let me know.

Just read your question again and I didn't answer the last question. No it just covers short vowel sounds.

What a wonderful way to start my day! Thank you for sharing this story. I love to find ways to motivate and involve our little learners, especially those who struggle with being part of the "participation group.". I'm getting ready to get Skype up on my computer so I can meet all of these children. I talk to my students about how I come up with the words to the songs and we all become songwriters. It's a great writing project. See if you can Skype at your school. If you can't, we can write letters, email, or I can make a special video blog just for the children. Thanks for inspiring me today.

I had already checked out your youtube videos that go with your products and have used many of your ideas. I had the whole class watch the hand movements for the r controlled vowels. They loved hearing someone's voice besides my own showing them how to do it. As they wrote words I saw the hand motions being used many times. You have the perfect voice for children's songs. I first met you at an SDE workshop and was sold on using a smartboard. I was able to put it to use last year and wow it was so fun for the kids and myself. Now I am moving to a school with a prometheum board. Most of your files that I used with the smartboard would not transfer over. The multimedia is not transferrable. Have you come up with things for the prometheum boards?

The multimedia files that I sell on the TpT site or at my conferences should transfer to any board because it is a Quick Time file. I am not familiar with a Promethean Board and it's the 4th of July - no customer service today. Can you email me so I can ask you some questions about your Promethean board?Do you have Quick Time on your computer? Does your board have the pen tools that you pick up and write on pages? The "Smart Board" files that I give away for free on my website and TpT have to be used with a Smart Board. Those are the spelling games and math games. I look forward to hearing from you. Thanks for attending my sessions:)

You will need to put the Quick Time files in your movie/video section on iTunes. Then you can sync it to your iPad. The students will access them from the Video on the iPad. I use them as a listening center or as a read-to-self/independent reading time to reinforce the phonics' rules. It also helps differentiate as the children can listen/watch the ones that they need reinforcement or enrichment. Most of the files have teaching point pages at the end for the students to practice reading the words associated with the phonics song. My students practice reading the words at the end. Also they have a word work notebook where they write words that they notice throughout the song/or teaching points pages, and then I meet with them on the words they are working on. Hope that helps:) If you have other questions, let me know. Thanks for visiting my store.

Is there anyway that the -eu could be changed to -ue as that is the combination that are in words 1st graders are exposed to (glue, blue, clue, true/untrue, due/overdue, Tuesday, avenue) and for my advanced readers pursue, revenue, cruel, subdue, fondue. Most definitely. You are one of my best customers:) I can modify it for you and convert it back into a multimedia file. Which one do you want to show first? ue then ew? or the other way around? Can you send me your email? I will be heading back into the recording studio this summer to do a Copycat Letter Boogaloo - Part 2. Do you have any requests for that one. I would love to have feedback on what teachers need. I was considering adding the "oo" sound too. My email is kathytps@aol.com

OK - this is the second response in case you already read it. I can't change the vocal part without going into the studio. Email me and we can discuss your options. I can definitely do it in June when school is out, but we can think of a solution until then.

changjm re: Copycat Letter Boogaloo for the Smart Board, IWB, or Computer
Hi Kathy,
I just bought the Copycat Boogaloo for the Smart Board. I love it and I'm sure my first graders will too...it's so fun! I am having a hard time coming up with eu words, though. I was wondering, is it supposed to be ue and ew or eu and ew?

Thanks for your help :o)

I chose this song to help with the words my children were struggling with. It is for ew and eu focusing on the diphthongs and r-controlled vowels, which is a harder concept for 1st graders, so I turned it into a fun song with visuals and motions to help them remember. There are not a lot of words with this word pattern, especially "eu" which makes it more difficult for young students to remember which is why I put it in the song. Here are some words to focus on: blew, few, new, blew, chew, crew, dew, flew, grew, knew, stew, threw, screw (eu) feud, neutral, deuce, emeu (can also be spelled emu), entrepreneur, grandeur, lieu, maneuver, neuron, neutralize, sleuth, streusel are words I use. I call the "eu" - "Fancy Nancy" words, and we do a quick vocabulary lesson on those words we find so they know word meanings too. We do many word sorts during our word work time, and we make word lists that make the "u" sound. Then we tally how many words are on our list. I have the children give me words that have the "oo" sound, and then I write them on the appropriate list. Most of the words they choose will fall in the "oo" word list, followed by ew, ue, eu, and ui. There are harder words that contain "eu" that your higher readers will encounter too. I write them on the list as we encounter them. Have you been to my YouTube channel or my blog to see the video of the motions that I use with the song? http://kathygriffinteach.blogspot.com or http://www.youtube.com/user/KathyGriffinTeacher?feature=guide
My children LOVE to do the movement/motions with the multimedia file. Plus, we use those motions when we decode unknown words. Thanks for your feedback, questions, and for visiting my store. Let me know if you need anything else. Have fun doing the Copycat Letter Boogaloo with your students. It's a highly requested one in my classroom.

Kathy, Is there a "Growing Dendrites with Kathy Griffin" all inclusive file? All your cute songs say from this file, but I don't see anywhere to purchase the complete file.
Thanks!

I am selling them individually as mp3's on TpT. I can sell the hard copy (complete CD "Growing Dendrites with Kathy Griffin") and mail it to you if interested. I can put that option on my TpT store this week. Check back by Thursday. Thanks for leaving the question and for visiting my store.
