Kathy has 15 years teaching experience and currently teaches 1st grade. She has experience teaching in Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. Kathy also worked for the OK State Department of Education on a grant for including children with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.
Kathy's teaching style is very hands on while incorporating movement, technology, and multiple strategies for learning. Kathy designs her multimedia files, Smart Board Activities, books, and literacy centers to meet a wide range of learners in the early childhood classroom. Because Kathy has taught grades Pre-K through 2nd grade, she has experience differentiating her activities to meet those needs.
Kathy received her National Board Certification as an Early Childhood Generalist in 2002 and just recently recertified as an NBCT EC Gen in October 2011. Kathy was District Teacher of the Year in 2008. She received the Friends of Children Award from the OK Institute on Childhood Advocacy for the inclusion of children with special needs in her early childhood classroom.
Kathy has a BSED in Early Childhood Education and a MSED in Special Education.
