No, they are more just quick alternatives instead of saying "good job" or having students clap. I have them on cards to keep the ideas handy. Once a week, when a student did something very well, I gave the cards to try student and let them pick the new celebration they wanted to learn. For example, during football season we did "touchdown" a lot. Instead of clapping, I would say "let's give Sally a touchdown" and all my students would throw their hands up and exclaim "touchdown!" They are all nice and quick; my students enjoyed the variety and it motivated them :) let me know if you have more questions! Kjones678@gmail.com

I have look EVERY WHERE for some sort of cards dealing with mood/tone. I feel my kids don' know what the words mean (answer choices) when ask to describe the author's tone or mood. Do you have or can you design :) some sort of cards with the words, definition, possible picture? I'm guessing there would be a lot. I would like to have the kids then write/describe a situation where that mood would be portrayed. All your stuff is so great, I thought I'd ask.

It's funny you mention that thought.... because I was JUST teaching my kids that skill this week. Wow! I'm so sorry I have taken so long to get back to you. I had my students write in their own example. We use it a lot with specific stories and they have to find the cause and effect in the story. not crazy at all!! Marzano is a specific framework that utilizes "learning goals." There is particular wording that Marzano uses. It differentiates between learning goals (what student will be able to do) and learning activities. My school is using Marzano's observation system too. We are required to have essential questions and learning goals posted on our board each day. Does that make sense at all? Update: I feel so terrible saying this, but on the hundreds game, the money game, and the addition game there were some errors. The hundreds game has a two cards with 612 but with different numbers to be found on the bottom (kids tried to play around it, but it was unsuccessful), two cards with 62 cents (again, kids tried to play around it, but it was not possible as far as we could figure out), and in the addition, it was missing a card with the number 24. We have not used all the games, but the other 5 that they played were all perfect.

I purchased the first grade set, and I really like the kid-friendly language, but I would like to make it more personal with "I can" statements. I am teaching a combo. K/1 class this year, and I would like to purchase the kindergarten set as well so that there would be consistency in the look and "read" of all of my students' goals. I want to encourage my students to "own" their goals, and the "I can" statement really helps personalize their learning. Is it possible to get both the 1st Grade and Kindergarten Grade Common Core Essential Questions & Learning Goals (Marzano) with "I can " statements rather than "We will be able to" statements?

Unfortunately, I do not. It is on my to do list, but I have been very busy. I do not have learning scales on TpT. I use a generic format in my classroom. It is on ActivInspire (to show on my Promethian). I change the learning goal within the format each day to match the skills we are covering. It is simple and effective for my classroom needs. I just noticed all the Barack's are spelled wrong could you fix and send again. I need it very soon. Also the adverbs still say adverbs in the title. Sorry to wait to the last minute.

I left you a comment about the misspelling of Barack Obama. On the version I am downloading it is still misspelled. I also have the version that still says adverbs. Am I downloading the wrong one or doing something wrong? Just curious! I am ready to print these and get them ready. Thanks

I think your posters look great. I really want to purchase them - it will save me so much time. I just need to know what I will get when I purchase the 2nd grade set. Is it every subject area or just reading and math. Is it the enitre set of standards or just a particular set.

The set includes all ELA standards (reading and writing) and all Math standards. There is an essential question to go along with each standard; in some cases there are multiple to give you choices or to be more vague and cover more than one standard within a question. There is also a learning goal to go along with each standard and smaller strand within the standard.

Thank you for catching that!! Originally, I was going to make it with 'adverbs.' I realized my kids needed the extra practice with verbs, and decided last minute to switch it. It is uploading right now :)

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I taught preschool (ages 3-5) for 4 years. I'm going into my 2nd year of teaching in the public school systems. Last year, I taught 2nd grade in a high poverty area. Next year, I will be looping with my students to 3rd grade. I love my job and feel fortunate to be able to enjoy my work.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I am a strong believe in hands on learning. It is very rare my students are assigned a worksheet to complete at their desk; I'd rather have my students working together and using manipulatives to strengthen knowledge. I'm lucky to have a very high technology classroom and try to incorporate technology into most of my lessons.
