I have been a teacher for 14 years. I've taught French Immersion (Language Arts, Social Studies, Health) and Core French. Most of my experience has been at the Grade 7-12 level and includes 6 years at some of Toronto's top private schools as well as two years teaching ESL in Japan.
Having taught in both Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureat schools, and having done some research on current Best Practices in Education, my teaching style reflects these experiences. First and foremost, French is a Living Language and Oral Communication should be the most important part of the course. French Culture is also very important. I do a lot of speaking activities, games, partner work, dialogues, skits, etc. Verbs, grammar and vocabulary are used as support to help students increase their fluency in this language.

I grew up in Nova Scotia but currently live in Toronto, Canada with my husband and two young sons. Curriculum development is a particular passion and I hope to do a Masters Degree in this area at some point.
