Two of the images do not show equal parts, so this is an inaccurate representation of a fraction. Great introductory lesson to comparing fractions.

Kelly Katz (TpT Seller)

Thanks for purchasing this PowerPoint! In your comment you mentioned that two of the images don't show equal parts. I believe you're referring to the last images on the first two slides. These slides are meant as a review. As the images pop up, my kids indicate the fraction shaded on their whiteboards. When the shapes with unequal parts pop up, my kids indicate on their boards, 'not a fraction.' This way I can quickly review the concept that when we're working with fractions, we're only dealing with equal parts. I guess I should have explained this in the description. Hope you found this useful.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:

Wanda M. re: Adding Unlike Fractions PowerPoint- by Kelly Katz

I was looking at your preview. I noticed that all of the slides provided was working with simple unlike fractions until the last one which has mixed numbers. Are there other slides in this packet that shows how to add mixed numbers?

Kelly Katz (TpT Seller)

Hi! Yes, at the end of that PPT there are word problems using unlike mixed numbers. This is the only place in this particular presentation where mixed numbers are used - I made this a few years ago and I have a feeling it's because the mixed numbers worked better for the word problems than proper fractions. If you're looking for practice for adding unlike mixed numbers, I do have a separate PPT covering just that skill. Hope this helps! :)

Buyer re: Mode PowerPoint by Kelly Katz

Hi Kelly, this doc doesn't seem to convert to my WORD doc. Is there any other format you have it in? thanks Natalie

Jacky L. re: Adding Unlike Fractions PowerPoint- by Kelly Katz

Just bought your adding fractions with unlike denominators, some of the problems are not showing answers, I see the conversions into pictures and the new fraction, yet the answers are not there. Is that on purpose? Also, for some of my faster kids, it would be nice to have another problem waiting on the bottom for them to do next while they are waiting for the others to finish the original problem. I just started using powerpoints in my room and that is what I am seeing as a problem. The wait time needs to be sort of long for some kids and not all, so another smaller "bonus" problem waiting for those students would be nice. What do you think?

Jacky L. re: Multiplying Decimals PowerPoint by Kelly Katz

Sorry, I need to find out how to get in and change your rating, I mistaked your powerpoint for another.

Allison M. re: Converting Mixed Numbers and Improper Fractions PPT by Kelly Katz

How do I get the entire Powerpoint presentation instead of just the preview?

Kelly Katz (TpT Seller)

Hi Amurphy,

This is my "Primary Free Item," so the version you downloaded is the entire PowerPoint. All sellers have to have at least one free item, and this is mine. I've used this PPT in my classroom and with notes and modeling the lesson usually lasts about an hour. I do have a bunch of other fraction-related PowerPoints for sale, too! Hope this helps!
