10 years teaching experience in all classes from Pre-Algebra through AP Calculus III. Recently I have been working with integrating interactive technology into the math classroom. This inlcludes an interactive whiteboard, wireless writing pads (4 in the class) and individual student response devices to allow for instantaneous anonymous feedback on a topic.
I believe in teaching both the theory with the math but also practical real-world uses of the current topic. These include a project with cryptology utilizing matrix multiplication, land navigation and trigonometry, and projectile motion and basic quadratics, to name a few. I also believe technology is important in education but should enhance a curriculum, not overpower it.

I started in the military and after moving into the National Guard, began working with a contract engineering firm. I realized my calling was in teaching and completed my certification. After teaching for 5 years, I needed a change and went into engineering sales work, primarily in the manufacturing sector. With the birth of my daughter, I wanted to spend more time at home but also realized how much more I coudl do in the classroom than in a manufacturing plant. After only two years back in the classroom, I was named Carroll County's Teacher of the Year and was a Maryland Teacher of the Year Semi-Finalist. Recently, I participated in the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund program and spent three weeks in Japan collaborating with their educators.
