Ms Resnick  (TpT Seller) re: CELLS "Super Cell" Project - Structures and Functions of Plant and Animal Cells
Hi,
I recently purchased your super cell project. Several pages had text missing and the teacher information sheet was blank. If you could provide some assistance, that would be great. It looks like a wonderful project!

Newly created PDF files need to be opened with the latest Adobe Reader software. You can get that for free here:
http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

For Mac Users:
The default PDF application on a Mac is called Preview. This program is not compatible with newer PDF files. You must take these steps to open your PDF with Adobe Reader:
1. Highlight the PDF product icon with one click.
2. Go to "File" at the top of the screen.
3. Choose "Open with."
4. Select "Adobe Reader."

Sometimes a PDF will look fine on your screen, but may not print out correctly (especially if the file is graphic-heavy).
Try this:
1. Open the file in Adobe Reader.
2. Click "Print" within the Adobe Reader application.
3. You can select "adjust to fit" if necessary.
4. Click "advanced."
5. Check the "print as image" box.

Try opening the document from an entirely different computer.

Please let me know if any of these option help or if there’s anything else I can do on my end to make this right! If you would like me to send you the file via email, I would be happy to do so. I want you to be fully satisfied with your purchase!

What is the size of the posters?

The posters are formatted for a standard 8 1/2 X 11 piece of paper. I printed and laminated each one and hang them near the top of my wall. Students refer to them during small group and focus problem solving instruction. They could be printed smaller, but I liked the size for the space I have them hanging.

Ok, I also bought the CSI, I seem that you have a date on it. Would you be able to delete it and then send it to me? I will try and open the other file on a different computer. Thank you! Love your ideas

Hi I just purchased Cells Super cells and I tried to print it out and there is black lines at the top of every page. Do you have any idea what this could be?

Kim Coker  (TpT Seller)
Hmmmm. I'm not sure what might be causing the black lines. Is your version of Adobe the most recent one? I have had luck opening files on a different computer. Sometimes that makes a difference. If you would like me to send you the file via email, I would be happy to do so. Please let me know. I want you to be fully satisfied with your purchase!

Thank you so much for the compliments. I have really enjoyed developing lessons for TPT. The font I used for the cover of this project is called: "Wish I Were Taller". It's one of my favorites too.

msr72206 re: ECOSYSTEM Organization - Levels of the Environment, Biotic vs. Abiotic, Ecology
On the ecosystem slide: ecosystem - all the living and nonliving things in a given area

When you view the slide it is fine, but when you print it out the a is doubled (aagiven area). I tried to fix it but it would not allow me to. I have printed them out so I could laminate and post in my classroom. I cannot post this one due to the mistake. I was hoping this one could be fixed. Thank you for your time!

Jessica Lindsey  (TpT Seller) re: CELLS Bundled Kit - CSI Cell Investigation, "Super Cell" Project and more
I absolutely love your Cell stuff! I started using it in my class this week. I teach fifth grade in Decatur, AL. One thing I wish I had was a full diagram (like the ones on the test and flash cards) to label the parts all on one sheet. Do you mind if I copy the image from the PDF? I won't sell it. It's just for personal use.

How many students can play this game at one time? I was just wondering so I could make enough sets.
Thanks so much- it looks so cute I can't wait to use it.

It has the same number of cards as a regular deck of UNO cards. So I would say anywhere from 2-6(ish) players. I find that 4 players is kind of the most I would want in a group for management purposes. :) Have fun!

How many of the photos would you give to each group? 4-6, all 16 of them?

I gave each pair only one photo. That way they had to develop a clear argument and defend their reasoning on that one cell. It could be done different ways, of course.

After reviewing this item again, with the plan of using it soon with my students, can you please explain what they answers should look like. Some slides were blurry to me and I don't think I would be able to tell if it were plant or animal. I know plants are usually more rectangular in shape and have a cell wall. What else would the "report" say. I want to make this fun...because it seems to be...I just don't have explanations to go with the pictures so I, myself, can better understand what the students should see in the picture.

When I did this with my students, I used some of the slides as examples. We talked as a class about what we could identify in the picture. Truthfully, some of them are VERY difficult - this is part of the point. I find that most students have the misconception that a cell looks JUST LIKE THE DIAGRAMS in their science books and this just isn't so. Their favorite answer is that plant cells are rectangular and animal cells are round. :)

The main organelles we could identify were the cell wall (more rigid/straighter edges) and the large vacuole. I used the report as a way for them to try their best to look ONLY AT THE EVIDENCE. Most students wanted to say something like "It is a plant cell because it has a cell wall, chloroplasts, chlorophyll and a large vacuole." However, when we placed them on the stand to "testify" in the case, the opposing counsel (myself and other students) would ask where they saw the chlorophyll. In some cases, I allowed students to state that their results were "inconclusive" because they were unable to identify the presence or lack thereof of those organelles. We had discussions about why artists portray the organelles in a certain way in textbooks. We looked at online pictures of mitochondria and saw those "squiggly lines"...

I don't have an answer key at this time, other than having them listed as plant or animal. The front side of the report requires them to draw a diagram of a plant and animal cell and label the organelles. This part I used as an assessment because it tied in directly to our standards. The back side I used more as a jump start for our discussions, so I gave students a pass/fail/effort grade.

Thank you for your purchase, and I hope some of my comments helped.

I only teach math/science, so I have not developed one yet. I would be happy to create a reading one for you (special order) if you would like. It would have similar expectations but be titled for Reading with different clip art. Let me know if you are interested. Thank you for your comments. Kim
