Thousands of copies of School Skills 101 have been sold around the world. Several schools include School Skills 101 on their recommended reading lists for their students. Districts have bought hundreds of copies to distribute to their students.
School Skills 101 is described as being user-friendly for the student who does not want to study a how-to-study book. We declined to include the research-based literature for this reason; many average students are scared by it and many intelligent students rightfully are wary of such.
The goal of this action-research book is to provide the average middle-grade student with strategies in a simple format so that he or she may improve his or her metacognitive toolbox. Thank you! I teach preservice teachers now, but I loved Current Event day when I taught teenagers. It always amazed me what they taught each other and me. :)
