I’m sorry that you don’t like the lesson on noticing clues to help you know the author’s purpose. However, my lessons are about sound instructional practice, not fancy presentation. Because of the laws governing copyright, I cannot offer customers the text from David Weisner’s book Hurricane. I don’t have permission from either the author or the publisher so that would be illegal. The idea is that you would obtain a copy of this picture book and ask them to cite evidence, which is a very Common Core aligned action. You might place the book under the document camera or scan a page from the text into a smartboard so that they can reread and notice the language used by the author that helps them understand the author’s message. In fact, while this lesson suggests that you use Hurricane, because it suggests a practice, or habit of mind, it can be repeated using a multitude of texts, making it more, not less, valuable.
All refunds are handled by Teachers Pay Teachers on a case by case basis, according to their refund policy located here: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/FAQ#Refund

I'm writing because in no way should you be embarrassed. Copyright issues are difficult at best; flat frustrating most other times. You are heads and shoulders above many folks in the world who don't offer any citation. Please leave the material up and just add the info on how to folks can find the original product.
You know, it strikes me that perhaps the two of us could have an exchange about teachers can share ideas on this site (which I think is great and I'm excited to begin posting some things here as well) and still protect copyrighted work. Perhaps we could convince web managers to post it on the front page of this site. I am positive that you aren't the only teacher who has wondered just when the citation is enough versus needing permission. The permissions folks at Heinemann constantly answer my questions for my own books about when citing is ok and when permissions need to be secured. I don't know how they keep everything straight.
So, seriously, no harm done. Add the rest of the info and we're good to go!

I did love it, but I have to add, the blog you wrote a few months back about talking to the cab driver in Baltimore is the one that sticks with me. To think that grandparents are thinking about their grandchildren as letters is blasphemous!
