I just purchased "Student Procedures & Classroom Routines" and am VERY EAGER to begin using this product. You may have already been informed of this, but there appears to be an error on the "Student Birthdays" page. There are 2 "August" and FEBRUARY is missing. When you have a moment, would you please send me a corrected version of the "Student Birthdays" page. Thanking you in advance!

Thanks Kimberly for your empathetic response!!I think I am going to go ahead and purchase the kit as I think you have thought this out and for teachers like me, we need someone to help us with this! I will check out your blog as I certainly could use the reminders and when I saw the checklist in the plan book I was impresssed!! I guess I can forgo the extra materials I buy to set up my room and use what I have, freeing up money for the kit! Thank you!

Hi Kim- I have bought most of the things you have put on the site and think they will be useful. I am in my 7th year of teaching 6th grade. I have ADD and limited executive functions but I am a great teacher. I just take a long time to get things done and often find I get to where I am only doing what I need to survive - thus the paper mess that I have brought home this summer to go through and trash and file. Do you think this would be a good investment for me and why?? Thanks Joanie (c)

Hello Joanie...
Forgive my delayed response. We are in the middle of repairing a home that was damaged by some powerful storms in April.... that and a few other things,,, and regular life has kept me busy this last week. Honestly, I was so touched by your candid email in two ways.

First, I can totally relate to the fact that you are a great teacher who is working through the organizational aspects of our profession. The Essential Teacher Organizer is designed to address this missing element in so many teacher prep programs. Nobody told me how time consuming the paper work part of my job would be. It took several years to identify the important components to my job and then create a successful approach to organizing them and maintaining them without becoming a slave to the system I had created. Does that make sense?

Second, I have a brilliant younger brother who has struggled with ADHD all of his life. He is a smart guy, but can get bogged down in completing things if he gets over saturated with information or "to do". He and I have a standing phrase when trying to completing a large task. Which is, "What one thing am I going do today to help accomplish _________." He/I would fill in the blank with whatever we were working on at the time.

I wanted to share a little background information before I answered your questions. Sometimes it;s good to have some back story to better interpret the information in an answer. So, on to your questions..

If you have purchased the components of the Essential Teacher Organizer already, you have the pieces to construct your own notebook, with the exception of the Essential Materials Folder. In your case, the nice thing about the purchasing the complete kit is the fact that everything has been assembled for you, but if you have a little time, you can organizer your own.

As far as helping to construct a paper management system that can keep you on top of all the "to do" stuff that rules a teachers life, the Routines from the Lesson Plans and Routines section would be helpful. I am in the process of setting up a tab on my blog theteacherorganizer.com that will highlight the day's routine, which break down the multiple tasks we have to do for planning, prep work, paper work and classroom organization into manageable chucks of time. Additionally, I am looking at providing a daily email service which will allow subscribers to have the Routine Reminders sent straight to their in box.

I hope you find this rather long answer helpful. I am thankful that there are creative and great teachers out there, like yourself. The organization piece can be learned and it makes life easier once it is in place. If you need further info on "Routines" check out the Routines tab on my blog or feel free to contact me at theteacherorganizer@gmail.com

Happy Organizing!

montana722 re: Classroom Set-up 101: "Classroom Stuff" Checklist
Hi, I've purchased your Teacher Organizer system, and was excited to see your new entry on your blog, and the form you posted here! :) I think, though, that there might be a problem with your link on the Download Now button. I've never had trouble with anything else here, or anything of yours, but I'm not able to download this (Set-up 101 Checklist). I just keep getting returned to this page, and nothing downloads. I tried downloading using "Download file as," but that makes an .html document that leads me back to this page, not a .pdf file.

This item is listed in today's email of free products, but yet it says I have to pay $6 for it. I'm interested in it, but curious why it is not free when that's how it's listed. Thanks!

Dear Karen,
I am so sorry for the confusion. TPT included the Lesson Plans and Routines Section of the The Essential Teacher Organizer Kit in their recent newsletter. I was unaware of this when I changed the status of the product from free to $6.00. The confusion has cleared and I will return the product to a "free" status for the next few weeks. I hope you enjoy it!

Sincerely,
