I am very excited to use all 5 of your Math units next year! They look great! My Math program is not aligned with common core at all. I have only skimmed these units but wondered if it is enough to use just these units as my math program next year. I hope that makes sense.

I'm interested in purchasing your math bundles, but have a few questions first to give my principal some background info before using it in the classroom. Do you use this as your core Math lessons, or to supplement a math program? Are all the standards covered in the units? Do you have to teach them in a specific order, do you have a pacing guide or curriculum map? What vocabulary list do you use to make the cards? Sorry to be such a bother! I know that's a lot of info!

Both Page and I use these units as our main classroom instruction. EVERY single kindergarten common core standard is thoroughly covered in ALL 5 units (Units 4-5 come as a bundle too---just posted it tonight!) There are lesson ideas, games for small group and partner work, activities, printables, assessments...really everything you should need. We do pull in other lessons/ideas/tasks that we have used from years past and do those in addition to the contents in our packs, but you would certainly have plenty of standard specific resources if you used our math packs as your only resource. We DO NOT use any other official "math program" as we feel these packs offer more challenging, thorough, and graphically appealing content for our students. We teach the units in order from 1-5 because that is how our specific county has decided to teach them, but you could teach them in any order you desire. Our county is actually thinking of beginning with shapes next school year so we may be switching the order ourselves. The vocabulary comes from the standards. I hope this helps. You are not a bother at all. Please don't hesitate asking if you have ANY other questions! I am so glad you are doing just that so that you can make the right choice for your kiddos!

Many of the fonts are purchased fonts. This pak had sold tons and we've never had this problem...crazy, right! Why won't computers just behave!!! ;) here's a couple things to try. The file is saved as a PDF so all fonts should hold formatting for you. You can try to close the file and reopen it. You may want to check that you have the latest version of Adobe Reader too. Lastly, I can try to email it to you and see if that helps. Foglem@bellsouth.net Sorry it's giving you trouble---we'll get it solved one way or another! :)

We teach 0-5 in the fall, 6-10 in early winter, and 10-20 after christmas. How "themed" is the packet? Would I be able up use it year round?

We cut then apart but now that you mentioned keeping them together, we think that may be a great way to start using them. Then when the kiddos become more familiar with decomposing you could cut them apart. This would work if you reprint each year but not if you just want to copy and laminate one time. Hope this helps.

We started with Word, but switched to Publisher. It's much easier to layer backgrounds, borders, graphics. Many people use Powerpoint and love that too. I don't know that it's hard, but it is A LOT of work. We usually put in 40-50 hours per unit/pack. Then we edit, revise, add to, print...It is definitely a second job! But we LOVE it!!!

We are out for winter break this upcoming week so we will have plenty of time to get these packs put into a bundle to post on here. Aww! You are so sweet, and we are smiling from ear to ear! We are actually working on unit 5 now, and I think we will have 1 more unit after that for a total of 6. I think we can get all of the standards covered! We will definitely bundle them as soon as all the packs are done! But it will take us another month to finish both units. The math packs take us 50+ hours to create. Then we edit, print, and try to make sure everything is top quality before we post! Thank you for asking! I hope that works for you. :)

Thanks so much Shannon for your question. In the south, a knitted winter cap is called a toboggan. I did also find that a knitted cap is a toboggan in a dictionary. Does that help with the game? Students make a fist and pound each syllable while they say the word. Then students segment each syllable further by tapping each phoneme in each syllable. This multisensory method is great for helping students hear all the individual sounds in individual syllables. Let me know if you want to see a video of it in action.

It's a great packet of information, however I don't like that on the build-a-word station, there are only 3 spots for words that have 4 or more letters as in hand. I think this may be confusing to some kids. I would like to edit this to include 4 spots for those words.

We create it that way so that the students begin to see that letters go together to form only 1 sound...so the 3 boxes are for the 3 sounds like the ss in hiss. I usually give only 1 card to each student and keep the extras with me and I play those cards. (But I have 22 so that leaves me with just 4 cards!) YOu could play, but you may need to give each student 3 cards...they would REALLY have to pay attention!

There are some things that will work super with your firsties like the reading lessons for The Kissing Hand and First Day Jitters. They have good story comprehension activities that are perfectly suited for 1st. There are parts that I think would be GREAT for review like the shape graph, I Have, Who Has # recognition to 30 game, "I Have, Who Has letter and letter sounds game, and number sets. I do think some of it may be too easy depending on the level of your babies though. For instance, the color collages, color word pages, and letter strokes may be way too easy. I think I included almost all of the pages in the preview. Check that out and hopefully it'll give you a good picture of what may or may not work for your kiddos.
