Hi Cynthia,
In my class we read a nonfiction book about meteorologists that talked about the tools they need for their job-thermometers, maps, computers and what they would wear to their job. Then we used the tree map to recall what we'd learned from the book. Depending on your grade level/time of year you might do this whole group on a SMARTboard, have students fill it in with you as a part of shared writing or have them do it for independent practice. It's up to your discretion. Hope that helps!
