In many of our schools today we are working with students with very poor communication skills, either from poor environments or possibly students on the Autism spectrum. Whatever the reason we need to find ways to check for understanding and comprehension. This mini unit consists of three stories which can be put together into small books. Each book contains two worksheets with comprehension questions in which these nonverbal students can circle their answers rather than write or verbalize.

These cut and paste worksheets are designed to provide your beginning readers with practice putting their reading to work. They can be uses as class work, homework or even as an assessment.
