This will be good to get my 5th graders to think as they are reading stories. I love doing foldables with my class and am always looking for new ways to use them. I wasn't clear what the POWER tab was used for.

Great question. After I went back and looked at it, I realized that there isn't a POWER "tab." I just have the kids write POWER on the front of the foldable. Thanks for noticing the lack of clear direction. I hope your kids enjoy and learn from the foldable. We've used ours so often that they're tattered now!

I have them write the type of figurative language on the flap. Then, on the inside, they write a definition and provide an example. They can also add illustrations if it helps them remember the figurative language better. I hope this answers your question!
