This is my eighth year as a teacher. I taught for two years at a charter school, where I had several different preps ranging from 7th grade social studies, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade language arts. I had no classroom of my own, so I became organized pretty quickly! I currently teach 8th grade English and Social Studies for Bloomfield Hills Public Schools, and I really enjoy both my students and colleagues, with whom I frequently collaborate to create interdisciplinary units.
I believe in teaching the basics, such as grammar and punctuation, but I incorporate creativity and technology as much as possible. I want all of my students to succeed, and I believe in flexibility. Planning a great lesson is key, but you have to be willing to take a detour if something isn't working, or the students express enthusiasm for a different aspect of your lesson. I always go with what I know, but I try to stay current with my students so I can incorporate their interests into my lessons.

I received my B.A. from Albion College in 2001, where I majored in English and History. I received my Masters degree in 2005 from Marygrove College.
I think this site is great and I love that the proceeds from each purchase I make goes to another teacher!
