Thank you! I'm glad they were helpful. I know that I found MYP to be very confusing and time-consuming at first. I just got back from a level III conference this past weekend. The humanities criteria has changed, so I will be updating my units. I plan to post updates in a month or so. Let me know if you have any questions. Once you set up your units, MYP DOES get easier. Hang in there!

I used this product to reteach using context clues. Since I only had a few students at my back table, I printed the powerpoint slides and we read and discussed them together. Then students used the worksheets to practice.

My only problem is that graphic organizers are such a big part of teacher now, and these worksheets are not setup as graphic organizers. The information is good and some of the ideas were helpful. I will have to create graphic organizers out of these worksheets, though.

I would be interested in using some of your materials on my website universalhomeschool.com (this website is due to be released in August 2011). The site will mainly focus on teaching videos for children who are being homeschooled, or need the extra help. We will offer math, reading and writing. I started building this site about a year ago and during this time I have been creating videos, quizzes, worksheets and lesson plans. I originally wanted a site that would be available for free to parents and teachers. Unfortunately because of the cost of the hosting, development, materials, and other overheads having a free site would be impossible so I will be charging a yearly fee to have access to the site. This will be anywhere between $30 and $50.
Therefore I am asking you for permission to use your work on my website. I will pay for your materials, give you the credit, create a link to your page and give you free membership.
If you are not interested, that is fine I understand. Let me know if you would like to discuss another agreement.

My aim is to create one of the biggest resources for education, a portal that will help parents help their kids at school, assist homeschoolers and teachers. TEACHING EXPERIENCE
This is my eighth year as a teacher. I taught for two years at a charter school, where I had several different preps ranging from 7th grade social studies, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th grade language arts. I had no classroom of my own, so I became organized pretty quickly! I currently teach 8th grade English and Social Studies for Bloomfield Hills Public Schools, and I really enjoy both my students and colleagues, with whom I frequently collaborate to create interdisciplinary units.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I believe in teaching the basics, such as grammar and punctuation, but I incorporate creativity and technology as much as possible. I want all of my students to succeed, and I believe in flexibility. Planning a great lesson is key, but you have to be willing to take a detour if something isn't working, or the students express enthusiasm for a different aspect of your lesson. I always go with what I know, but I try to stay current with my students so I can incorporate their interests into my lessons.
