I made this into a center two ways. The first one I used the pages that had the words for the students to match the letters up with to spell. The second one, I cut the letters from the first pages and put them with the pages of pictures without the words.
So now, I have a beginning word center, and a more challenging center for later on! Thank you so much!

They are PDFs so you can't type directly into them. There are some programs that can convert PDFs to text files or word documents if you want to try that. However, I usually just handwrite them because I am taking data during work sessions with students and don't want to carry around a computer. I hope that helps!

There should be an option in your print dialog box to "print multiple sheets per page" or something similar. It works best if you print on a vertical/portrait piece of paper with 6 per page (2 horizontally, 3 vertically). This should help if my explanation isn't clear enough: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/print-multiple-pages-per-sheet.html
As another option, I actually find it easiest to print them singly on 3x5 index cards - they are sturdier than regular paper and most printers allow you to print directly on them.

I am also interested in the Jack Keats stories. I love the ideas for use after my students listen to books on tape like Snowy Day. Any chance you might be interested in doing more stories? I'm assuming you're talking about the interval recording sheet....if so, yes! There is also a blank form included in the packet so you can fill in the times that meet your needs. The example has 7:45-2:30 in 15 minute intervals, but you can fill in any start/end time and any interval. Hope that helps!

I haven't started making materials for the new objectives/procedures for 2012-2013. I have 3 kids doing VAAP this year though so I will definitely be making some soon. It may be very student specific because for my kids that will be demonstrating the standard on "level one" it will be highly modified. I will post as soon as I have everything put together. These were used for kids who were in 3rd and 4th grade for the 2011-2012 school year. The SOLs that were tested were mainly from kindergarten/1st grade. This year, however, the VAAP regulations have changed so that we must pull from the students' actual grade level. So I don't think this product would be a good fit for your students. Hi Lauren! I just purchased your storyboard pack and I can't wait to use these in the classroom. I plan on using Brown Bear Brown Bear this week and I'm super hopeful that my students will be much more engaged having the story board in front of them. I always try to make sure that they have some type of manipulative to hold that goes along with the stories & songs we do. I teach pre-k and have a range of students, autism, down syndrome, fragile x, etc.
I saw that you commented for someone else that you would be interested in taking requests for storyboards. I was wondering if you had considered creating a pack of storyboards for the "There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed..." series. There are so many different ones I think that they would make a great pack of boards to sell together! :)

That's a great idea! There are SO many versions of that story :) I will put it on my list of ideas for upcoming products! I teach kids with autism in an elementary school and these boards are so helpful. I use the board as a whole sheet but I often also cut out the pieces so I can provide kids with a smaller field of 2-4 pictures to make choices from. Then they can also match to the full board! Regarding prepositions, I'm looking for real pics for in,on,under,beside,above, and in between. I like real pictures because my son seems more interested in them.
Sequencing, I'm also looking for real pics of setting the table, getting dressed, brushing teeth, putting on your seat belt. I'm looking for sequences that are realistic and part of everyday life.
I have a million ideas, I make my own worksheets but yours are much better than mine

Hi Patty,
In behaviorist terms, SD stands for discriminative stimulus. It basically means, what is the teacher going to do/say that tells the student they need to respond. It could be verbal statements like "point to the ____" or "what's your name?". It could also just simply be a math problem or a sight word that's placed in front of the student.
We use that section to describe what the teacher should do so that we're sure that all staff that are working with the student are presenting the information in the same way so we have accurate data. For example, we wouldn't want one staff member saying "what's 4+4?" while another staff member says "what's 4+4? use the blocks for each number and then put them together to find the answer." If they started by telling the student different information, our data would not be valid!

Thank you for the alternative assessments Lauren.
I bought them in a panic and can't really use them since I'm a Middle School Math teacher. I suppose I should fhave noticed from the samples about the grade level, but I didn't. Since the ASOLs are all done by grade level, you may want to include the what grade level you packets are good for.

I love this product and am anxious to use it to teach and measure comprehension of a story. How did you find the pictures to go along with the stories? I see that it works but since you didn't get the pictures from the actual stories, how did you find the pictures that would be close? I am eager to have pictures for The Three Bears, The Three Pigs, The Three Billy Goats, Little Red hen, Henny Penny--is there any chance you would make more communication boards for these stories?

Thanks! I've found these picture/communication boards to be very helpful with my students with limited verbal language. They're also a great accommodation if/when students are included in the general education classroom.
I use a program called Boardmaker. It is expensive but has a huge number of picture icons. It can be found here: http://www.mayer-johnson.com/boardmaker-v-6/. It includes some pictures from common nursery rhymes and stories so I was able to use some of those, and find others on my own.

On thumbnail #4 I noticed you need an sw for swing but you just have an s as a choice. Is this corrected on your download? Is this true for your write and wipe word family worksheets? I love your work.

Hey, I just updated both of the word family worksheet packets and took out the -ing page since this seems to be a recurring problem. So now there are 14 pages for both the cut/paste worksheets and the write/wipe worksheets. Hope that helps!! I totally understand! It does seem to be a running problem. I've tried re-uploading the document, but it opens correctly on both of my computers as well as coworkers' computers. I think perhaps it has to do with whether the downloader has the most updated version of Acrobat Reader/Preview, but I can't really test that. And unfortunately, I cannot locate the word document version of this. It's up to you! The thumbnails uploads are a function of the TPT website...there's not really anything I can do about it other than take individual screen shots and upload my own...which is just too time-demanding for every product. The actual PDF has the correct letters (at least when I view it), but they don't show up on the thumbnails. Not sure if that helps, but that's the info I've got. Thanks for the question!

For example: there would be a picture of jumping, hopping, clapping, jumping jacks, marching, tapping our head with hands etc. Do you have any of these pictures from boardmaker?If so, would it be possible for you to e-mail me a sample?

Yes, I can definitely help with that. There are tons of pictures for different movements! There are definitely picture icons for all of the actions you listed, and many more. Please send me a list of the actions you want and some details about the specifications (size, placement, organization of symbols) and I will put together a sample board!
