Thought I was downloading a free card game. What I downloaded was a word document instructing me to retype the search, and when I did, I saw only card games I would have to purchase. A scam if I ever saw one.

Ms. Finegan, I'm so sorry you felt cheated. That was not my intention at all. I was just trying to make sure people searching for something related to my products could find my card games easily. Looking back at what I have posted, though, I can see how you may have been mislead, so I've amended the description to make it clear what the file contains. Thank you for pointing this out to me. I would like to mention, though that if my card games were a free download, you would no doubt spend your money and time to print them in color, laminate them, and cut them out. Whereas purchasing my cards outright gives you a high quality product you can use immediately, over and over again, without that expense. Teachers tend to under-value their time in preparing resources for their classes. If you take into consideration your hourly salary to prepare a "free download" into a usable product for your class, I'm sure your would find the cost is much more than if you made the purchase. You are correct. Depending on the grade level and abilities of the students, States of Matter can be a simple review, or it can help students learn the vocabulary and basic concepts of this topic. Absolutly loved playing this game with the kids! It was used as a special treat during rainy recesses to play with me! The kids asked to play even when we wer no longer in that science unit. A real win! Only wish that I could have afforded sets of cards for groups of students to play.

Phyla: 10 arthropod,
7 mollusk, 4 cnidaria, 4 echinoderm, 2 porifera, 2 annelid
Object of the Game
The object of the game is to collect one of each class of vertebrate (one mammal, fish, bird, amphibian, and reptile) OR to collect one of each of five different phyla of invertebrate.
How to Play
1. Deal five cards to each player.
2. Put stack in middle face down (draw pile).
3. Turn up one card (discard pile).
4. Player 1 picks one card from the top of the draw pile OR the discard pile.
5. Player 1 then discards an unwanted card face up onto the discard pile.
6. If Player 1 has collected one of each vertebrate class OR one of five different invertebrate phyla, he/she wins. Otherwise, it is the next person’s turn.
7. Continue until there is a winner.

I also teach K - 5 students in the computer lab. ******* Prior to that, I taught 5th grade (all subjects) for 8 years. Over my 22 year career, I directed/trained over 900 young adults in laboratory medicine and military duties and responsibilities.

Kids learn without knowing it through play. I believe in plenty of opportunity for experimentation, use of manipulatives, and lots of hands-on experiences.
