tchrmj re: Summer Camp Fun: Literacy & Math Activities for Your Summer Camp Theme
Hi Linda,
Lots of great activities in this packet. (: There is an error on 2 pages-the rhyming pages-the first one is correct in the directions when it says "have another student find a different word that rhymes with "lake"-on the next 2 pages, "tent" and "pool", the direction still say "lake". Can you let me know after you have corrected them? Thanks!

Anne Weaver  (TpT Seller) re: Summer Fun Four-in-a-Row Vocabulary Game
Linda,
I have designed a lot more frames which I will put in my store. If you ever want any frames or anything else, let me know so I can put them up for free for you since I'm so glad you can use them for your wonderful resources! Learning to make frames and backgrounds is very time consuming. (I have gotten caught in this wonderful creative activity.) Yet they are extremely important; they can make a product stand out. I'm trying to create different graphics for teachers. A different look is needed for covers and backgrounds instead of the "safe" look. I would be honored if you incorporated my graphics in your resources. You would be helping me so much.

Love your new logo and banner, nice creating.

I can appreciate a bit about how long it must take to make those lovely frames, Anne ... I purchased a Bamboo a while back to fool around with some illustrating, and it was quite challenging. The drawing part was fine, but I was boggled by the capturing, saving, and various other tech parts. However, as you said, the creativity is a delight!

I love incorporating your photos... now I'll have to think of some ways to highlight your graphics, too! Thanks for the compliment on my new logo. I love it, too, but I can't take credit. It was done by Megan at A Bird in Hand Designs when she redesigned my blog.

Nice to hear from you!

Actually, there are no graphics of coins in this set, although there are mentions of the names of coins. I wasn't aware that this could cause a confusion for Canadian students. The activity on the MLK page is to interpret the data that a (fictitious) class has already completed, so the filled in blocks on the graph are intentional. It's just a way of varying the data analysis activities that the books all include.

Linda Nelson  (TpT Seller)
Well, I can understand why it would be confusing, because it was kind of confusing to write the description, too! :) There are indeed three gameboards, but one involves subtraction. Your students add two numbers and subtract ten from the sum. Then they cover the answer on their board.

I hope you'll take a moment to download the preview, which should give you a better idea of what the games are about! You might also like to read the ratings and comments section.

GoodStart re: Bug on a Rug Short Vowel CVC Games
Hi I know that you are probably very busy but I was wondering if you could adapt this 'Bug on a rug' cvc game to a colour game? I have had a look at your preview and think that you could use the same game board and bug cards (but without the cvc words printed below).

It wouldn't matter that some of the bugs had stripes on them. Do you know how many coloured bugs you have? I would need upwards of ten coloured bugs. I understand if this is not possible and I can purchase the game 'as is'. My only concern is that I need it for 3-5yrs and I think that they would think that the cvc word is actually the colour name.

Thanks for taking the time to read this question. I am still searching TpT to see if the resource that I require is already listed (somewhere) :)
September 16, 2012 Report inappropriate comment

Linda Nelson  (TpT Seller)
Hi, GoodStart!

This sounds like a workable idea. The problem is that these bugs only come in 4 colors. I have another cute set that comes in 6 colors. Is there a particular reason that you need ten? The 2 sets could probably be mixed in one game, but there would still only be six colors (the two sets overlap).

I do think it's an interesting idea. If you'd like me to go ahead with it, please leave your email when you respond so we can discuss the details.

Hi, Rebekah, Sorry for the delay in answering you! This item was designed as a supplementary resource. The pages that you mentioned are a graphic organizer called a brace map. The answers for these are open-ended, depending on what facts you have taught your children, which of course would vary with the curriculum you are using. Because of this, there is no answer key provided. This kind of activity is good for teaching children to organize information, form generalizations, and synthesize information. Hope this helps! :)Linda

Linda...just asking for your advice...what do you know about fonts we can use to tell things on here? I have looked into a few from Kevin and Amanda and understand their terms...WE just took off a bunch of DJ Inkers stuff that we had on here for free because we just reread their Terms of Use. Are the basic fonts that come with your computer okay to use on things to sell? This is so much fun but is also a bit confusing and we want to make sure we are doing things legit! Hi, Carrie! You're right - the copyright thing can be mindboggling!
I agree with your decision on DJ Inkers - although you'll see many sellers using their things, it's always a good idea to read the TOU carefully. I actually don't purchase any fonts. I use the ones that come with Microsoft products. As I read their TOU, they seem to be fine for use. I like Comic Sans for clarity and Kristen when I want a bit of whimsy.
A great place for info on fonts is the TPT Sellers' Forum. Also check out the threads on use of graphics. There's been lots of controversy and conversation lately, especially since the Seuss people came after Scrappin' Doodles for copyright infringement. Touchy stuff- definitely better to be on the safe side.
So glad to hear that yo're having fun! I see that your Space freebie has lots of downloads - good for you!
Hope I was of some help - please ask any time!

Hi Linda! I work with Rachel Lynette often! We are part of a "secret" group on Facebook as we are all part of Charity Preston's Teaching Blog Traffic School :) Yes, I'll post it on TpT and TN and all of the participant's can post it on their blogs and we'll really hype it up on Pinterest too :) The "permission" disclaimer is just so that nobody can say I stole their stuff without asking them. It will only be used in the book and as a way to drive traffic to all of our blogs and TpT/TN Stores. It will also be posted on Classroom Freebies Too :) I will add you to the Pinterest board right now :) THANKS! BTW - my blog is www.teachingresourceresort.blogspot.com and my FB is www.facebook.com/teachingresourceresort :)Dawn

Thank you so much Linda! That helped me a lot. I teach special education, so they struggle with being very strategic ;) This is an awesome way to make their spelling more interactive. So, regarding the eBook...I am compiling ideas and free resources offered by TpT sellers to create an eBook on Word Word. When I saw your freebie I knew it would be perfect! If you are interested in having it included you can check out my post here http://www.teachingresourceresort.blogspot.com/2012/02/attn-teacher-authors-now-accepting.html. I have a cooperative pinterest board here: http://pinterest.com/dawndelz/word-work/ If you are interested in being a pinner with us, just send me your Pinterest address:) THANKS!

Thank you for this opportunity, Dawn! I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to be part of Rachel Lynette's Holiday ebook on TPt, and it definitely brought lots of exposure! Are you planning on posting the book on TPT and TN? Other plans?
I included several other free items, too. After posting, I read the comments of the previous poster and got to thinking about the disclaimer ("I give permission..."etc.) Am I correct in assuming that you'll be including something like that for all of the items in the book, rather than individual disclaimers?
I'd love to join your Pinterest board - thanks! http://pinterest.com/primaryinspire/
Keep me up-to-date on your project ... and good luck with it!

TeachingResourceResort  (TpT Seller) re: Word Wall Game: Spiderweb
Hi Linda! I actually need to follow up with you later today to ask about an eBook publishing opportunity you may be interested in. For now, I have a question about this game. Do they need to have one finished "diamond" in order to write the word in? Also, can they overlap the lines - what if red already colored on the line and they need it to complete their triangle? Thank you for your time! :)Dawn

Hi, Dawn - so sorry that I wasn't able to get back to you sooner - I was away from home and my computer for a few days. In answer to your questions about Spiderweb: 1) Yes, in order to write a word, the player must complete all four sides of a diamond. 2)Players cannot trace over a line that has been traced by another player. I hadn't even considered that possibility, because I was anticipating involving the players using some strategies in this game!
Thanks for both of your excellent questions... I'll be modifying the directions on the game board to clarify those two points, so please download it again.
Looking forward to hearing from you regarding the ebook opportunity!

Hi Linda,
I noticed as I was filling out the valentines this weekend that the bee one has an error. It says "Because you are so sweet, I wish that wish I could always be your teacher!" Just wanted to let you know in case you want to fix it.

The first 2 pages don't have enough of the words on the paper that you cut out. Please help. Also, I am laminating the cardstock paper, and that seems to help.

The same words are on both pages. The teacher will only be putting in one of each word, but your students will find the word twice on their grid - more practice! :)
The second set of words works the same way. Sorry if this was confusing - I'll try to do some rewording in the directions. As far as the laminating, I didn't find that to be successful for me - the film started to separate, maybe because of all the movement of the barley in the bottles. Maybe you'll have better luck with yours!
