HI Lindsay, When will the last part of this be ready? I want to know before I buy.
Also, will you have one of these for 8th Grade?

Hi, This looks like such a great product. I know you've said that you will be working on one for 8th grade. When do you think that might be done? I'd love to use it for tutoring this summer. Do you have a similiar product for 4th grade?

I don't have a 4th grade product as I'm doing mostly Middle School right now. I won't have the 8th grade bundle complete until late summer. Once I finish the last 7th grade resource I'm going to take a break for a week or two since my family is moving across the state. Once I get back to it, I'll start on 8th grade.

Hi Lindsay,

I recently purchased your 6th Grade Common Core Bundle and 6th Grade Common Core Checklist. I did not realize that the Checklist was already included in the Bundle. Is there a way to get refunded for the Common Core Checklist purchase?
May 9, 2013 Report inappropriate comment

Lindsay Perro  (TpT Seller)
You can contact TpT and ask - however the checklists are listed with a link to the product included in the description for the bundle. The description for the checklists also has a link to the bundle. Everything in the bundle purchased individually would be $49, so even with the extra $4 you spent, you still saved a bunch on the rest of the resources!

Hi Lindsey,
I recently purchased several of your unit resources (fractions, equations, decimals, integers, etc). The resources look very promising and I cannot wait to use them next year. I'm taking your advice and I'm trying to stay away from the dull textbook next year. My question for you is... Do you have any particular order or timeline behind your resources? Many of them seem to include holiday or seasonal-themed sheets, and I was just curious if you had a particular teaching order that you recommend for teachers using your unit resources. Thanks!

Even though I don't use a textbook, I still have to follow the scope and sequence for my county. I'm told what to teach and when - but I use my own materials and do it my way! Most of my holiday themed resources I plan to revise to be used any time of year so it's more suitable for everyone and not just myself!

I love your materials and wonder if you could also put together some common core items for 8th grade. Never too many questions! :) There may be overlap with a resource or two, but it would be from the Statistics and Probability packet that you already have. So just checkout the list of resources to see what you'd be duplicating. I think it may just be an activity or two. Otherwise - it is a completely different resource from the 6th grade CC bundle!

March 19, 2013 Report inappropriate comment

Lindsay Perro  (TpT Seller)
For Day 11:

#2 is asking for the perimeter. You would add 13+13+8+8+15 to get 57 for the answer. We don't add the 6 or the other 15 because they are interior measurements.

#4 is asking for area. I actually had this one incorrect - so thank you! You would add the two bases, 11+18 and divide the sum by two. You would then take that answer (14.5) x the height (14) for an answer of 203.

#4 is asking for area as well. The area of the rectangle at the bottom is 8x15=120 and the area of the triangle at the top is 1/2x15x6=45. The total area of the shape is 120+45=165.

Day 14
#4 You need the surface area from #3 (198.375) and you multiply that by the price per square inch of paper ($0.25) for a total cost of $49.59.

I hope that helps and thanks again for finding the error I made on day 11!

For #1, the family ate 5/6 of the ham - leaving only 1/6 left. The next day they ate half of the remaining 1/6, therefore leaving only 1/12 of the original ham left. The question is asking about the original ham, not the ham that was left after day one.

For #3, the students divide 250 by 19 and get 13.16 - which needs to be rounded to 14 hours. This is kind of like the questions where students need to decide how many school buses they need for 40 kids if one bus holds 38 kids. They need to round up to 14. 13 hours wouldn't be enough time.

Lastly, for #7 she only purchased 7/8 of a pound of chocolate chips. She ate 1/4 of that 7/8 of a pound - not 1/4 of a pound. 5/8 is the answer that you get when you subtract. Since we are thinking in terms of a whole pound of chocolate chips, this is actually a multiplication problem. Her original 7/8 is multiplied by 3/4, to yield the answer of 21/32. Since she ate 1/4 of it, the students should know she has 3/4 left and should ask themselves "What is 3/4 of 7/8?" and convert that to the multiplication problem 3/4 x 7/8.

Hope that helps! Email at me at lindsayperro@gmail.com if you need further clarification!

Dawn Ledbetter re: Line of Best Fit Scatterplot Activity
I liked this activity, but had to modify it after I gave it a test drive. The x-axis was pre-numbered, but should start at zero, not 1, where the y-axis was. The grid also needed to be taller for the Roses plot because if you numbered by 1's, you could not plot a y value of 19 or 20 from the table. Perhaps the y axis should be broken at the bottom and numbered above that starting at maybe 6. I modified by making it taller. Next time I will also pre-number the y-axis, since students got stuck/didn't follow directions and numbered using a scale that didn't work well. But other than the grid setup, I loved it!! You have a lot of very nice products; I hope to use more in the future!

Thanks so much for your input. I too had to modify it after using it in my classroom last year and thought I had the correct version on here. I will work on getting that fixed! Thank you so much for your kind remarks, despite the need for modifications!

That's odd. I'll copy and paste my reply:

These are the CCSS that are found on the CC website. If your state has adopted the CCSS, they should be the same. I used the standards from the Common Core Website here:
http://www.corestandards.org/Math/Content/5/NF

Hope that helps!

Hello. Are these Common CORE STANDARDS for this unit the same for the CCS in NY? I am interested in purchasing, but want to make sure they are aligned. Thanks so much.

On your activity "Thankgiving with Granny", are there mistakes in the problem? If so, do you have a corrected version? I understand the rolls mistake has been corrected, but we were confused that pumpkin was a fruit, and it would not fit in the puzzle. I have a bunch of 5th graders with questions....LOL Thank you for your time.

Hi, Lindsay! We worked our Thanksgiving logic puzzle and had a similar problem with the 2 pies. Pumpkin is a fruit because it has seeds, grows on a vine, and starts as a flower so the first clue doesn't help when you get down to the 2 types of pies. We figured it out based on guessing that was the problem, but it had us stuck for a bit. :)

Hi Lindsay, Do you have any notes on modeling fraction multiplication and division? It's a 6th grade SC standard. We do not teach the algorithm.

I can't solve the "Great Gift Mix Up". Look at clue #6. It says "Gemma's shoes didn't come in a box wrapped in a primary color". The answer sheet says Gemma's color is BLUE. Blue is a primary color. Am I missing something or is the key wrong. HELP!!!

So sorry! It should say that her shoes DID come in a box with a primary color. I just solved the puzzle with that clue changed and it worked out. Please email me if you are still unable to arrive at the solution and I will help you out! I've updated the file so you should be able to download it again.

Hi Lindsay, thank you for the fun activity! I just tried doing it though, and at the end I was left with the two types of pie, and no clues as to which pie Mary and Monique like. Thank you so much for the fun activity! I know my kids will really enjoy it!

Ah! I'm so sorry! I just figured it out! I was working off of the old version, and then saw the amendment, and then I made that mistake! Wow...I was slow! Thank you! My kids loved it today!

Ellen, I'm so sorry to just be getting back to you. I had completely forgotten about your question. If you are left with two types of pie, the first clue should be able to help you because it states that Mary likes her dessert made with fruit. That would give her the apple pie and therefore, the pumpkin pie would go to Monique.

Hi Lindsay,

Is this "MS Math Stations Bundle" incorporated throughtout your two Beyond the Worksheet books or is this a unit of its own?
Thank you.
Also, what are your top recommendations for 7th grade math students - common core?
