I have been working with children for the last 18 years. As a classroom teacher I have taught Pre-K thru 4th grade and 6th, 7th and 8th grade remedial reading. I am now a Literacy Coach, thereby working with teachers in their classrooms and providing professional developement. My love of reading and teaching has kept me going through these exasperating years of mandated state testing and NCLB. I believe things will get better if we stay committed to our students and our love of teaching.

Teaching style
I use guided reading, reading and writing workshops, and small group instruction to meet as many of the students' needs as I can. I believe in using minilessons, small groups and individual conferences to facilitate learing.
Awards & shining teacher moments
Cambridge Who's Who 2008
As with most teachers, I still love that moment when a child makes that reading connection that has eluded him/her. That bright look in the eyes and that great big smile make all the pounding of my own head against the wall worth it!
My own education history
Illinois Wesleyan University--BA in Elementary Ed.
Chicago State University--MS in Teaching of Reading
