Good Afternoon,
I had used your Value Line Up and Conversion Island in the past and it was successful with my students. This year, I am making a workbook for each unit and wanted to include that in it...I know it is copyrighted, am I able to put it in my workbook with your copyright on it since I purchased it from you off this website? Thanks for your help.

Hi, Lauren.

Your purchase allows you to copy for personal classroom use only. So if the "workbook" is to be used by your students in your classroom, then you may include the items in the unit packet of copies for your students. Hope that clarifies!

Leslie Kilcullen
Leslie K. re: Scale Drawings Lesson Plans
Hello,

I have what may be a silly question, but am having a difficult time explaining the blueprint dimension card questions to my students. When the questions say "Find the blueprint dimensions of a 14-0 x 13-0 room on the scale : 10 in:1 cm" are you meaning a 14ft x 13 ft room to a scale of 10 in to 1 cm, or are you meaning a 14 in x 13 in room to cm? I am having a difficult time duplicating the answers....Thinking I am just having one of those days?!?! Any help?!?
April 28, 2014 Report inappropriate comment
Lisa Tilmon
Lisa Tilmon  (TpT Seller)
Yes, the 14-0 is blueprint notation for 14 feet 0 inches. So the students need to convert feet and inches to total inches (168 in) first so they can use the 10 in:1 cm scale to find the corresponding length (16.8 cm) on the blueprint. Just shout if my explanation is clear as mud...the last quarter always makes my head spin!

I just purchased the transformations unit and I am very disappointed. I was expecting to get a complete unit with lesson plans, homework, assessments, etc. However, what I received was a couple activities with no explanations on how to implement. I am very disappointed that I spent $15. Is there any way to get a refund?

Each team of 3-4 students were assigned a bedroom in the house to make a scale drawing including furniture. Each team decided their scale according to the dimensions of their rooms and the poster paper dimensions they were using for display. I didn't give them a scale, but I did prompt discussion to teams her were struggling with a reasonable approach to determine a potential scale. If that doesn't answer your question, please contact me via email at lisatilmon@hotmail.com to clarify. Thanks!

I am finding that the equation -2^x-2 does not have the correct table and that the graph for the equation 2^x+1 is incorrect. I loved the game and the kids stayed very active with the game. I changed it up. I made color copies of the cards, cut them apart and placed a magnet strip on the back. The students had to match all the equations up with the numerical, the verbal and the graph. They placed them in columns on the board which is magnetic.

The circles do not spin. The clothes pins do contain the answers, and the students match the question and answer by clipping the clothes pin to the coordinating problem. Aside from the obvious valuable and relevant content, this is adorable!!! Using it after spring break to get the kids back in the game!! My questions are: Are both the problem cards and the record sheets needed for the game? Or, are the problem cards just for a larger visual and students are to mark on the record sheets only? Do students playing each other mark on the same card or are they each marking on their own?

Thanks!

Hi Kathleen,
This will be a fun way to get back in the groove after break! I laminated the big problem cards so my students could use expo markers to mark/label if desired...some did and others opted to just use their record sheet. My students played in pairs with a RallyCoach structure...taking turns one rolled and identified special angle pairs while the other coached with friendly reminders or praise for accuracy. In student pairs, no angle pair could be listed twice so they tried to exhaust all possibilities to avoid losing a turn from no remaining angle pair to list. Hope that helps! Enjoy!

I'm sure we could use this page in multiple ways, but I'll share what we did in our classroom. My students worked individually to highlight as many facts as possible. The students with the most accurate facts "wins" the activity. We did allow for going back if they skipped one...meaning they could hop all over the board if your parameters allow. And yes, I rounded to the nearest whole percent. No, there shouldn't be a negative in the center of your page. I printed that page to double check and it printed clean for me. I would encourage you to contact TpT customer support for troubleshooting ideas for printing.

Then they trade cards and find new partners to repeat the process. I hope that helps! Let me know if you have more questions.

I saw your product featured in the Sunday TPT Newsletter; so, I thought I would look at your freebie. I absolutely love it. It is something I can use, even on the college level.

I have just a few suggestions that might help you to better market your products. First, add a second page which is a directions or suggestions page. List several ways you use this product in your classroom. Even though I know how to use the cards, never assume that a buyer knows how, why, or when to use your product. Use the footer to put the copyright symbol, your name and date of creation on EVERY page. Items, especially free ones, have been "stolen" from TPT and posted on other sites to be sold. You have to protect all of your creations. Also, number your pages. Finally, buyers like color; so, you might think about that for the cards.

Since you are a math person, I’d appreciate your input on my freebie listed below. It's a test over fractions.

I currently teach math at Washington Junior High School in Bentonville, AR. I'm still new to middle-level education, but the challenge is a perfect fit. I'm hooked on building better students...

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I have lived in Northwest Arkansas for 26 years. My husband and I have two beautiful daughters. Chuck works for Wal-Mart, and we attend First Baptist Church of Bentonville. It was my honor to be a classroom teacher at Bentonville High School for ten years; however, I resigned my teaching position in 2004 to stay home and spoil my family. I recently returned to teaching after five years of retirement and am loving every second of creating a positive learning environment.
