How many pages are included? What sorts of activities? How long is the unit designed to cover?

RBART54 re: Forensic Science
Hi Lora,

I was hoping you could qualify the content of the unit.

1. Does this thematic unit incorporate, literacy and mathematics with the components of forensic science?
2. What is the optimal grade for your forensic science thematic unit.

Please advise asap so I can purchase your Forensic Science Thematic Unit.

I have been asked to teach 11th grade speech/debate for an orthodox Jewish girls school. How would your unit be helpful to me? How many lessons do you include with your unit?

Thank you!

To Edie Weber,
Arthur Davis wrote "I Have Become the Leopard" and many other fine short stories. His website is at http://www.talesofourtime.com/index.html.

Dear neroberson,

Which course would you like a book for?

Communications/Speech correlates to "Human Communication: The Basic Course" 10th ed. by Devito .

The criminology and forensic science courses list the books in the Course Resources section of the document.

Professional development for the Blackboard learning management system is an earlier version of "Guide to Blackboard" .

Literary Comparison of Two Short Stories is not aligned with a textbook. Neither are Role Play or the Lesson Plan Templates.

I hope this helps. If you have a specific textbook for which you would like a course designed, I will be happy to create whatever you need.

PCBeach,
Thank you for the suggestion. I have posted a revised version of the Lesson Plan Template for use with groups in a single subject area. Hopefully, this will help other teachers too.

Hi, Lora!
My principal has asked me to have three reading and three math groups this coming year in second grade. I'm overwhelmed. Does your template have an accommodations for this? Right now I'm typing out single pages of plans to go with each lesson. My plan is that then I'll have them and be able to just print them out the next year. However, it is taking me hours to do it. (I just did the fourth quarter last year- when I didn't have to do the math groups.)
Thanks,
PCBeach

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Work experience ranges from preschool special education to graduate level technology over a span of 20+ years. Currently Lora consults as an instructional designer, professional developer, trainer, web developer, and freelance writer. A complete resume is available at http://kaisler.50webs.com.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Lora incorporates constructivism and brain-based teaching and learning pedagogy. She emphasizes problem-based and cooperative learning strategies. Action research and authentic assessment constitute key elements in everyday reflection and iterative review of methods and materials.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Actually, my most valued teaching moment came when I realized the key to teaching elementary students with dyslexia to read was to provide them with Dr. Seuss books. I was able to take a fourth grade student from non-reader status to the fourth grade reading level on classroom reading tests in the span of only one year with this method. Jon went on to successfully graduate from high school after years of fully integrated classes, with the aid of books on tape, available free to the dyslexic as well as the blind.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Lora has earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary and music education from Marycrest College, Davenport, Iowa; a master of science degree in special education from Western Illinois University, Macomb, and a master of arts degree in instructional design and technology from The University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa.
