Have you made any activities for Measuring Penny, I love that story?

Loreen Leedy  (TpT Seller)
Hi! One fun idea for Measuring Penny is to have kids bring in a stuffed animal and measure it in various ways. Another idea is to have kids trace around a ruler on a large piece of construction paper and draw in the inch or centimeter marks. Then they draw something "interesting" for Lisa to measure like a baby dinosaur, a fairy, an alien, etc. Hope that helps and thanks for asking!

Sure Melissa, here it is: meATloreenleedy.com, substituting the @ for AT. I've heard there are ways for spammers to automatically get emails from web pages, so I try to never post it "bare" on a web page. :)

Ed-U-Smart  (TpT Seller) re: Spring Mirror Word Puzzles
I run the blog/website www.ed-u-smart.org. Each week I do Wacky Wednesday freebies. These freebies link directly to free products at TpT. In the near future I plan spring themed freebies. After looking at this product, I would love to include it in my Wacky Wednesday freebies. May I do so?

You can check out my site at www.ed-u-smart.org. Go to the freebies page. I would link directly to this product on your TpT's page.

Thanks for your help,

Ed-U-Smart :)

Hi Loreen! I commented already on your Easter Symmetry activity but I wanted to share an idea and pics about your activity if you want. My grade twos were all over this activity and we made them into ornaments. I'm green to loading pictures and what not, but if I can I'd would share the picture of one of the ornaments if you like and you would be free to use it.

Hi Loreen! I have had your book The Great Graph Contest for years and always read it to my class when we begin graphing. Well when I read it yesterday and when I noted the author's name, I said, hmmm, that name rings a bell - is that someone I've seen on tpt? I did a quick search, and there you were! Let me congratulate you on your fabulous success as an author/illustrator! I can't wait to check out your other books...I'm the newest follower on tpt! Good luck! :)

lhardin re: Winter Symme-TREE: Sorting Squares & Rectangles, Measuring, & Symmetry
hi loreen,
i have several of your books in my k classroom....you do a wonderful job with your writing for young children...i always look for your books when i am in the bookstore or online looking for new books to include in my curriculum. I was lurking around tpt in hopes to find some fraction lessons (basic ones part/whole, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4) and stumbled upon your post...never dreaming a book writer would come to a teacher store....
anyhoo.....i like the christmas tree project....i was wondering if you could include a blackline of the project...i wouldn't be able to print 22 copies for my kiddos in color....but i could do it on construction paper and let them add color/details to snowflakes if it was in black and white form...no problem if it can't be done....keep on writing!

Lisa, you are quick! Your New Year's resolution lesson looks like a great way to start the year…it's fun to be a little part of it. :) My resolution is to make more clip art (and to finish the book I'm supposed to be working on!) By the way, I added another headline in a different style, so if you download the file again, you'll get it.

Hi Lisa, if the books are by Loreen Leedy, that's definitely me! Thanks for writing back, it's great to be on TPT, so much to explore. I've been looking at the Common Core standards and tech for education on blogs but it's even better to have conversations about all this stuff, plus see the materials teachers are creating and using. Yay!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I'm the author-illustrator of 40+ picture books used in elementary classrooms and by homeschoolers across the USA and internationally. TPT members may be familiar with Measuring Penny, Fraction Action, or Crazy Like a Fox: A Simile Story among many other titles with math, language arts, science and other curriculum content. As I prepare materials suitable for classrooms, I would be happy to hear any advice from the experts (you!)

MY TEACHING STYLE

My picture books introduce topics in an engaging visual way, often with multicultural children or animal characters. For TPT, my goal is to create attractive materials that students enjoy while they're learning something new or reviewing topics they already know. Second grade is a typical level for my books but they vary and are regularly used in lower and higher grades than I'd originally imagined.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My books have been honored by The National Science Teachers Association, the American Library Association, the Florida Book Awards, and the Parent's Choice Awards, among others.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

My college degree was in Art, then I signed my first publishing contract in 1984 at the age of 25. Since then I have learned how to illustrate and design my books using digital tools (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) mostly by reading how-to books and reading/watching online tutorials. I have visited hundreds of elementary schools in my career and from the start have been inspired by what teachers make happen in classrooms every day. It's fun to see the student projects, bulletin boards, posters, anchor charts, and other "stuff". And now with Pinterest I can see classroom stuff anytime, which has been so motivating!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
