Hi! I am looking to purchase some of your writing prompts but I had a few questions. I was looking through the smaller packs (the 2.99 ones) and they all looked great! So great that I thought I would just buy the huge pack of them....except when I previewed that pack...it seemed way more advanced. I teach 5th grade and am worried they won't understand many of the prompts. I have keynote. If I purchase them as the keynote version, is it editable?

My students love your writing prompts. After voting at the beginning of the year, each student has a choice of three narrative, persuasive, and explanatory text for the month.
Thank you!

I am just starting on TPT and would love any feedback. Thanks for the great writing prompts.

Thanks for saying something.

Hi Luke,
I'm hoping to use these gems with my 9th graders. Could you send me them in a format that I can adjust/adapt when necessary? I purchased them as is, but am having trouble getting them to show correctly when I try to project them with the LCD. I don't have Keynote, but I'd be willing to look into purchasing it if that's the only software possible.
Thank you very much for your work and your help!! I'm very excited to use these!
Best,
Liz

I'm sorry, but there are not any specifically about the Incas or Aztecs. But... many of the prompts are rather broad in their scope, or, at least, applicable to many time periods or civilizations. If you shoot me an email at luke [dot] neff [at] gmail.com, I could actually send you all the text or something like that...

Thank you very much for creating this document. I am newer teacher to 6th grade middle school and struggling for Common Core help with English Languag Arts at my site.

I would like to have the file in a format that I can adjust too, if possible.

I am using an ipad in class and Keynote however I was able to finally open it up in the Kindle App but not my ibook app. Any help with that would also be great.

Thanks again, you have saved me! oh, my email is willy.zeus@verizon.net:)

Luke....I LOVE YOU!!! LOL!! I am so pumped to start the school year utilizing your writing prompts. I actually have an 8th grade son in one of my classes, and he is even excited about it!

I would like to have the file in a format that I can adjust. There are a few of the multiple standards prompts that have an option I'd like to delete. I am also wanting to add a text box to each prompt giving the type of scoring rubric I'll be using and the point value of the writing.

Thanks!

Luke, I am curious if you have a pack that is just about social studies? I also was wondering if you have slides that don't have the CC standards on them as I think it takes away from the visual look and feel.

Thanks much,

Hi Luke! Are the other Common Core prompt sets (three sets of 20 and the free 15) included in this large set of 300? I will be teaching 5th grade and trying to decide whether to get the full 300 or the sets that appear to be more fifth grade appropriate.

What grade level would you use these with?
June 12, 2013 Report inappropriate comment

Luke Neff  (TpT Seller)
There's really a range covered by these. I've heard some great success stories from sixth grade teachers to college writing instructors... many of the prompts work for a wide range of levels. Some of them definitely require a bit more thought, so they'd be tough for middle school students. But I've used almost all of these with my 9th grade students. I think that anything below fourth or fifth would probably not work... some would, for sure (like, "Instructions for getting a complete stranger to smile"), but most would not...

Thank you for your response. I need it in word because my new computer won't print in PDF...not sure why, but every document I download that's in PDF I have to convert to word in order to print it...I use Adobe Reader, the latest version to do this. Yesterday I purchased several items on tpt many were PDF, I converted most just fine...yours and one other gals didn't convert well, there were letters all over, symbols all over, missing words??? Anyhow, she sent me her in a link on email and it worked. thanks though. Not sure that I can do anything from my end. I can't use your documents as is though...:(

Ok. I think I've got something figured out. Could you email me at luke.neff@gmail.com with your email address? I can then send you a link to a Word Doc which has all the prompts on it, so that it can hopefully then work in your printer.

Thanks,

I purchased your writing posters, but I knew I needed to convert using Adobe Reader to Word (from PDF). When I converted it, the lettering on the posters got all jumbled. Would there a possibility of you emailing me a link to open so I can print them from the link or file. For some reason converting is really screwing up my ability to use your product. I really like the posters. Please help. thank you. Lisa Becker

Lisa,
Thanks for the message. I think you're asking something that's a little out of my depth, so I think I might back up and ask why you need it in a Word format? I have only converted a PDF to a text file a few times before, and I know that the conversion process always leaves things messy. I think in this case, with the poster/slides, it would be especially messy since I used something like 100 different fonts, most of which aren't on every computer... all that to say, I chose the PDF format to keep it looking the way it should. Even giving someone the Keynote file (the program it was created in) would make it look weird on their computer since they'd have to have all the same fonts on the computer. All this to say, I have no idea how to get it to you in a Word document file, (I tried for awhile and the best I could do was copying and pasting individual pictures of each slide into a Word doc) and I definitely don't know how to get it to you in a Word file that wouldn't look significantly different from the original. Maybe if I knew more about why you need it in a Word document format, I could work to figure out a solution for you.
Thanks,
Luke

Hi Luke, I was wondering why you don't have these in PowerPoint. I have a Smart board connected to a computer, so why would I have to use a projector? Not sure what you mean.
June 2, 2013 Report inappropriate comment
Luke Neff
Luke Neff  (TpT Seller)
The reason I don't have them in a PowerPoint is because they were created in a different program, Keynote. Putting them into a PowerPoint file considerably alters the formatting and makes them look pretty wacky. If you have Keynote, I could definitely get you the Keynote file...

Re: the projector... that's just what I have hooked up to my computer to get these in front of students. A SmartBoard should do the same thing...

Does that help?

Hi Luke!

I just bought your 300 set of prompts because I stumbled onto your Tumblr a few weeks ago and LOVE it. I used to consider myself pretty creative with my writing prompts; then I found yours and the visual appeal put me to shame. I'm an avid Mac user and noted your explanation about the format in the info section - do you mind sending me the Keynote file? (erkenbka@gmail.com)

Hope you get some great classroom books!
