I think the letter to the class elf is so sweet. I wish you had made the letter paper in eh letter writing format so it was easier for the students to follow - different lines for the date and greeting, etc. There was also a typo in your beginning note of explanation - I think it was "shoe" instead of "show". If you decide to update this, you might keep those thoughts in mind. I look forward to having my students write our elf - they were so excited this year! (My first year in 2nd grade - formerly middle school math - quite a switch!)

Kindergarten by Design (TpT Seller)
Hi! I am a Kindergarten teacher here in Texas. I have a question for you. Does your school use CSCOPE for curriculum? If so, how long? Our district just rolled it out for us to begin using it. I love it, but many of my colleagues are overwhelmed and do not like it at all. Did anyone on your faculty have the same problems? Can you tell me how your school overcame the issues? Of course these questions are assuming you do use it. I really appreciate any help you can give me.

Hi. I had a question regarding Daily5. I tried to find the "email me" button on your blog but couldn't so I thought I'd ask you here. With Bucket Fillers, how do you keep the kids from getting up out of their seats during a lesson to go write a message? I can just see my students randomly saying, "I"ve got to fill a bucket!" Hope you can help. It will be my first year doing Bucket Fillers.

Hi! I saw your email and am so glad to hear from you! I have been on vacation and will be back tomorrow. I apologize for not getting back to you a little sooner :)
What a great question! When I introduce the concept of bucket fillers, I make sure to include appropriate times to write notes to fill their friend's buckets. They have time during morning procedures (before the bell rings), during stations, and at the end if the day. Once they understand and know when they can write their notes, the kiddos are really good about not interrupting instruction (they also know that interrupting instruction dips into my bucket and others that are part of our learning environment). We also make a class social contract where interruptions during instruction are included. I think you are going to love how it builds classroom community :)
