To be a teacher, I feel it is important to have a solid understanding about the students you are teaching. Whether this is in an urban or suburban context, they are all children who have things that affect them every day. I feel it is my job as a teacher to take care of these children and prepare them for their future in our community by being aware of who they are as individuals, using a range of techniques to teach them, understand and be knowledgeable about the content being taught, and utilize the resources at my disposal to give them the best education possible. This involves holding students to high expectations in all areas of their education, inspiring them to do the best that they can in all areas of their lives, and be accountable for the quality education they are receiving.
