Hi Janey! Thanks!

Honestly, I did start to make an answer key for the literary terms tracking sheet but the text is SO RICH with figurative language that typing everything I marked up in my book was taking me hours to finish so I gave up! I wish there was a way to just photo copy my book and send that to everyone!

But two suggestions -

1. If you purchase the tests, they do have an answer key so you can backwards plan where to stop and discuss.

2. I am not teaching LAWKI this year... but with a different book I had my kids type their literary terms tracking sheets and then merged them into one document so i'd have an answer key in case I ever sold that novel unit.

I hope that helps, and thank you for taking the time to post a comment and purchase the unit!

crazyjaney re: Life as We Knew It - Tests for ALL four seasons
Hi Mandy, I saw your guide + test a month or so go and am going to start it in a week-10 days. I like the idea of a tracking guide for terms but do you provide answers or do I have to read along and fill them in. Seems like more work for me when I am already swamped. Please help me to understand so I can make an order to decision in the next day or two. Look forward to your response.

Mandy- Do you include answer sheets at all?

The short answer is No... but let me explain:

When I made the study guide I intended for it to be completed as a "whole group" through class discussion (with the exception of Chapters 5,7,9,15, and 20, which are labeled as "independent reading" chapters.) While there are definitely wrong answers for each question in the study guide, there are many right answers depending upon how the child or class interprets the text. I encouraged my students to use text evidence or a quote to back up their responses. (Which also helped prepare them for the short answer response questions on the tests I created... which DO have answer keys included.)

The study guide and tests were really created as one whole unit. If you purchase both resources you will get more out of each because they compliment each other. You will be able to use the test answer keys to determine how you will guide the class discussions.

I hope that helped :)

MY TEACHING STYLE

My personal quote wouldn't fit in the space provided but I think it describes me and my teaching style pretty well: To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children… to leave the world a better place… to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. -RW Emerson
