I have been an elementary teacher for the past 15 years. I began my career teaching fourth grade. After four years, I moved to the fifth grade level, where I taught for nine years before returning to fourth grade. In addition to working as an elementary teacher, I have been a part-time lesson designer for the Library of Congress.
My approach to education is very hands-on and informal. I believe children learn best by doing and experiencing. I try to bring my lessons to life as much as possible for my students. My classroom is always lively and noisy. We have a wonderful time, and we learn a great many things.
In 2000, I was honored as the Edgar County Teacher of the Year.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. My Masters degree in Elementary Education is from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.
I plan and oversee my school's biannual fundraising sock hop as well as its Accelerated Reader Store.
