Hi, Marie! When I downloaded your Powerpoint "How are living things Classified?" it only has 8 pages, and the 8th only has a large black box over it. The description says 15 pages. Should there be more?

I believe the font is called LongIsland. You can Google it and download it for free.

Buyer re: Comparing Living Things: How Are Plants Classified?
Don't really have a question...I just downloaded your Comparing Living Things: How Are Plants Classified? Powerpoint. Overall, it contain a lot of great information that will be easy for my students to understand. However, on several slides, the pictures are hiding the text. You might want to change the picture format so the picture appears behind the text. This was an easy fix for me. I look forward to using this. Thanks for creating!

Thanks for contacting me. I've had this problem before. In my version, the pictures don't hide the text. I think this has something to do with the font I used. It's not a standard font, but rather one I downloaded. I haven't figured out how to transfer the font along with the PowerPoint. Unfortunately, this means that when someone who doesn't have the font I used opens the document, their computer chooses an alternate font. I just don't know how to embed my font into the document. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi! I'm not familiar with an Active Board, but I will do a little research and see if a conversion is possible. I'm heading off on vacation tomorrow, so it would be a couple of weeks until I could start.

Can the SMARTBOARD slides work with ActiveInspire? If so, I really would like to purchase this. Thanks

Hmmm...I'm not familiar with ActivInspire. I just did some searching on Google and found a site that claims Notebook files can easily be imported into ActivInspire. Here are the steps:
1. Open Inspire and select "Import" from the file menu.
2. In the window that appears, select "SMART Notebook file v8, v9, v10".
3. Locate your file and click OK.

You might try this with the free preview that is available. If it works, then you should be free to purchase the entire document.

I have just purchased your "Classifying Matter - How Can Substances Be Described" and I am stumped by slide #9. What are we supposed to do there and what is the correct set up?
By the way, I love the set that you did on Matter, I bought all 5 of them!
Thanks!

Hi! So glad you are enjoying the lessons. Slide 9 on that lesson should have word boxes at the top that are moveable. The boxes are meant to be dragged to their proper places under the arrows. For example, the bos that says "melting" should go under the arrow from solid >>> liquid. Two words ("boiling", "evaporating") would go under the arrow from liquid >>> gas. I hope this helps. If not, please let me know. Thanks again!

I have been using some of your Scott Foresman science presentations. The kids are enjoying them and it has made my life easier! However, today I used your Unit A Chapter 1 Lesson 2 presentation. Some of the words are behind the pictures and I had to use the textbook during the lesson to help the kids figure out the rest of the notes. I just looked at lessons 3 and 4 (which I also purchased) and noticed that some of the words are behind the pictures as well. I am hoping you can fix this and that I can get the updated versions. Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for contacting me. I looked at the PowerPoint. I'm wondering if your computer isn't accepting the font I used. It might be using a replacement font. The font I used is called CoolDots and looks like letters with dots on the ends and the "i's" are dotted with hearts. I got it from www.fontface.com. If the font on your computer doesn't match what I just described, you might try downloading that font (it's free). Please let me know if this helps. If not, we'll tackle the problem from another angle.

Please check slide #7 of "The Changing Earth: What Changes the Earth's Surface?". You say that chemical weathering changes what rocks are made of. Then you say What they are made of does not change.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been an elementary teacher for the past 15 years. I began my career teaching fourth grade. After four years, I moved to the fifth grade level, where I taught for nine years before returning to fourth grade. In addition to working as an elementary teacher, I have been a part-time lesson designer for the Library of Congress.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My approach to education is very hands-on and informal. I believe children learn best by doing and experiencing. I try to bring my lessons to life as much as possible for my students. My classroom is always lively and noisy. We have a wonderful time, and we learn a great many things.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

In 2000, I was honored as the Edgar County Teacher of the Year.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois College in Jacksonville, Illinois. My Masters degree in Elementary Education is from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I plan and oversee my school's biannual fundraising sock hop as well as its Accelerated Reader Store.
