Great question Kim. I think if you a teacher who differentiates and doesn't assume that all your students are going to come in know the 'required' sight word list, this will be a great tool for your class. I know in my own district, in the past we have only 'expected' our students to know 25-30 sight words before entering 1st grade. It never failed, I always had kids that could learn more and wanted to learn more. Ball words have really helped. I have over half my class that know 220 sight words and have moved on to Dolch phrase fluency (Speed Readers) and every student know as least 80 words to date. You will have students who can really benefit from the incentives and activities that get them from each ball word level to the next. I never ask my students to study sight words, they do it on their own. If anything, they bug me to let them read them to me. My students have trouble differentiating whether letters such as w and x are upper or lowercase because of the size factor. Is there a way you could make the letters such as b, d, e, f, g, h and those type of letters stand for lowercase letters and letters that are distinctly uppercase such as A, B, D, E, and so on appear on the Tier 2 card? Each group that has been to this center has had trouble differentiating if certain letters are capital or lowercase. Thank you.

Could you please tell me how you divided the Dolch words for your ball sets? I purchased the baseball/soccer set thinking it was the pre-primer set but it doesn't quite match up. I love the concept and games but need to teach the words in the pre-primer set first. Oops, just read farther down in the questions to find this exact one. Many of the words are the same, some are not. I'll try to make it work within the pre-primer, primer, 1st grade, 2nd grade lists. Thanks

I've had this question a lot. I personally just teach them by list 1-11 because a vast majority get beyond preprimer. I cannot use them because you have either left out the word "you" or in one case (I think on the purple or pink sheet- it should read "your" and it says "you".) Please fix this or I am going to have to post negatively on the feedback. I am disappointed in this because it looks so cute, but I will NEVER use something that is grammatically incorrect. Go in and download it again, it has been corrected. I corrected a while back so it should be fine. Let me know if you have any other problems. I would also suggest that you come back later this summer and look at your 'purchases.' I have plans on updating alot of this first items I did over the summer. This is one of them. It will have a 'has been updated' notice on it when you look at your list of items.

I have used most of this product. I have a question on the spin addition . On Page 53, I think it is, I am looking at a Happy Easter picture with a bunny holding a balloon. It is marked tier 2. When I use the tier two spinner, I never get an answer 1,2,or4. Am I using the wrong spinner? Thanks for all the great work you do.

The original Dolch frequency word list is from Edward William Dolch (published in the 1940s). They are listed in the order of high frequency words (excluding nouns). Some of the words are kind of outdated, but the list seems to have stood the test of time. I assume that primer and pre-primer lists came after the original list when someone decided to break that 220 word beast down into smaller bit sizes. The original Dolch 1-11 list is the list and order that my district and our title one teachers have requested we use. I have used these words in this order and the ball system in my classroom since I began teaching kindergarten. I really only put stuff out on TpT that I have actually used myself. I realize it doesn't always work for everyone. I totally understand that. I'm so glad your kinders like the units. All of my own students (minus one new little guy that just arrived) have all passed BASKETBALL level so we are actually celebrating this week with a party. That's 60 words for each kinder. A reason I like having all 220 words listed out the way they are is so I can challenge those high flier kids that can complete all 220 words and move onto Speed Reader Dolch Phrases. Yep. I use cd cases for my spinners with a transparent spinner from Learning Resources taped to the top. Then I can just simply replace the printered spinner by opening up the case and changing it out. Best thing ever. My peg board is just regular hooks you can buy at home depot or walmart for peg board.

Marsha, the snail counting on recording sheets have a few gramatical errors. Pg 27/55 on the second set "Now write all the number that comes before and after." Pg 28/55 on the second set "Now write the numbers that after." Just wanted to let you know! I love what you do, these units are amazing!

I got the Easter Bunny I-Spy Tiny Little Words activity last year, and it only includes the Dolch 1 list. Perhaps it was a freebie?? It is the bunny holding an orange paintbrush and an orange egg. It is copyrighted 2012.

I just purchased your baseball words unit thinking that it included all of the words from the dolch pre-primer or primer list, but it only includes 20 words. Because of it doesn't include the entire list it doesn't meet my needs. Is it possible to get a paypal refund?

The boxes on the Number Before and Number After activities recording sheet don't line up with the sequence on the picture. For instance the Number Before activity card shows ___ 15, 16 and the answer sheets has ____, _____ Box. Just wondering if they should be switched.

I'm wondering if I'm missing something on the Missing Numbers set. Shouldn't the missing number go in the square on the recording sheet as shown on the "I Can" directions? As I'm seeing it, the recording sheet for the What comes Before has the box at the end not the beginning, and the What Comes After recording sheet has the box at the beginning.

I absolutely LOVE your products. Could you make some bead work centers with blends and digraphs, addition bundle group where one tier would be to adding and subtracting to 10, the next tier to 15 and the next tier to 20? This would really help my students as many of your centers are still working on adding and subtracting to 5 or 10 and my Kinder kids have mastered that already.

I recently bought the cold weather write the room math fun. It is fabulous! I especially like the addition cards with the different pictures so the kids can see that two different things are being added together. Do you have anything similar with a spring theme? All I was able to see in the preview were cards with actual addition or subtraction problems on them. Thanks!
