This is my 19th year of teaching. I have taught Pre-K, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade. I was an instructional technology specialist. As an ITS I helped teachers and students use technology in the classroom. This is my 5th year as a library media specialist.
I have always tried to vary how I teach according to the students. I like to use centers to give students choices. They have a skill that is being emphasized but they can practice and reinforce that skill in various modalities.
Teacher of the Year 2005 while teaching 2nd grade. Teacher of the Year 2011 as library media specialist.
I have a degree in psychology (Agnes Scott College) as well as certification in early childhood education. I have a masters and specialist degree in early childhood education (University of West Georgia). I have certification as a Teacher Support Specialist (TSS), Gifted Education, and Library Media.
I am married to Bob Dean. We have one daughter, Kathryn who is a junior at Agnes Scott College, currently studying abroad at the University of Ulster in Coleraine, Northern Ireland. We have a cat named Socks who is old and cranky but we still love her.
