Hmmmm...there is a craft that it might be referring to...the lanterns they need will be in the journal. I need to take that out-there used to be crafts at oriental trading that we used...but I don't think they have them anymore.

For the manipulatives, we often use the colored goldfish crackers--or there are wooden fish that you can get at Oriental Trading. They just need a small manipulative that they can use to help determine fractional parts.

Hmmmm. That's a good question! We do have it on our list to do a 5th grade camp-in. I think you can alter the 3-4; and you might not have to do too much--I think it's a little more of the 4th grade content, and the rich problems add a good thinking element. Did you download the preview? That might help you decide--we also have one that we strictly use as fourth now--so I can take a look at that tomorrow (Mon) and see if it might be better. In the reading passage, it talks about the composition of soil. They spend most of the time looking at several components, and link the info to the reading passage (see info below). We don't really have a table of contents, but I can try to email/send you a preview that would work....just let me know.

Basically, each group needs 6 cups (labeled 1-6) and a bungee cord. They have to stack the cups in a 3-2-1 pyramid so that the sum of each row (bottom and middle) and the diagonals are 10.

K-2 CUBES: First download at $3.99; additional @ $2.00

I think its a typo--you can find top 100 sellers for your state. If you are on the homepage, just look at bottom left hand side, and choose Browse by State...then choose your state. Hope that helps!

I noticed that your camp kit has a list of items included. Certain items such as jumping bugs, stickers, sorting cards are listed but obviously won't be included since the purchase is a download. Do you include a list of places where these items can be obtained?

Should I purchase all of the grade level kits and then combine the various levels of activities? Looking at it from an entire school's perspective, it seems overwhelming. Thanks for the question--we get most of the items you mentioned from Oriental Trading Company. If you just do a search for "camp" there are some great pieces to work with. I will also try to get you the item numbers in case that helps. If you want, we also do a Camp in a Box with some of the materials...which I should think about putting on TpT too! :-)
As for the grade levels, we have worked with buildings that have done the same kind of idea. Sometimes, you can have rooms dedicated to specific grade level. The grades 1/2 Camp In would be appropriate for either grade, especially if there is parent support. Same for 3-5--you could use the 3/4 Camp In for those grades. You could also do what you might have been thinking and combine various levels for the night--especially if they have support. The great thing is that they all model rich problem solving and questioning, so if that might be the focus for the Family Night, that would be good. I'd be happy to send them--I will also update the lesson again on the TpT in case they didn't load for some reason. Do you want me to send them by email? The stickers we just usually purchased some bug stickers and let the kids use those--or, you can just have them draw a scene to use for the problem. I have a feeling the lesson didn't update--there should be a page that tells about some of the different options you can use too.

There are a couple of different options. You can have students create a name badge using a blank label and having them decorate it and put their camp name on it. There are also some neat name badge holders (we use a camp themed one) from Oriental Trading Co (orientaltrading.com) but you would have to buy those. The other idea is to have them create a name badge using heavier paper and yarn, and they can put their name on it as well and turn it into a necklace. The stickers were also on Oriental Trading Co., but students can draw a scene on their camp journal, and create a word problem that way. Hope that helps. There should have been a page in the info that gave where we got some of the materials (name badges/stickers); and alternative ideas. I'll double check to see if it loaded--we did this recently, and maybe we thought the old had been replaced with the new--and need to do it again. Thanks for the question--hope that helps.
