Angel Bivins  (TpT Seller) re: "Family Feud"-Style Classroom Game!
Hi Matt,

I recently purchased your "Family Feud" game, and really like what it has to offer. I have built my text file and done a few quick test runs before I use it with the kids. I have run across a somethings that is quirky and I don't know if it is user error or if the program is designed that way. I was in the HOST GAME mode.

Issue # 1. Control of the board - If all answers are given control bounces from team 1 to team 2 just as I expect. But when a team gets 3 strikes and the other team gets control (they can give correct answer or strike), the game does not consistently move control in a manner that I can explain to the kids. For instances Team 1 strikes out and Team2 gets control they strike out, control sometimes goes to Team 1 and sometimes to Team 2.
It does not matter which round it is in the game.
November 27, 2011 Report inappropriate comment
n/a
Hmmm.... That's weird... i DO know that at the beginning of a new round, the team with the LOWEST points gets to start (no matter who started in the last round)... I'll take a look at what you're referring to, and hopefully i can find the bug that you discovered! send your email address to mcurless@hotmail.com and if I fix it, i'll send you an updated copy. Hi Matt,
I've downloaded this program and so far it's working great. Just one question... Is there any way to set up a "face off" at the beginning like in the real Family Feud game where one player from each team guesses and whoever guesses the most popular answer gets to choose to play or pass? From what I've seen, the way it is set up now, Team 1 automatically starts first. Thanks - Mark
December 11, 2009 Report inappropriate comment
n/a
Hi Mark! Yeah, I've thought long and hard about the best way to do a face-off, but the best method would be to have both teams hover over the keyboard (which doesn't work well in a classroom setting)... If you've got any good ideas, let me know! :-) (And yes, Team 1 starts first, then Team 2 starts teh 2nd round, then i THINK it's whoever is winning starts the next rounds...) Enjoy!

November 22, 2009 Report inappropriate comment

The cities are randomly placed on the screen and the user has to drag the capital to the appropriate state... if you notice, there are 5 capitals and 'distractor' cities to make it more difficult. (In other words, if you play the game, you'll see that the capitals and states are accurate!) :-)

(1) Be sure you have an updated version of Flash 10 (which is included in the package)... (2) Make sure the whole yellow folder is dragged out of the ZIP file to the Desktop. If this doesn't work, email me at the address in the ReadMe file. Thanks!

OK, Got it. There are some characters the game doesn't like. & symbol does not work. Had to take it out. One other problem. I have 7 questions. if I choose 7 rounds I sometimes get a blank question with 8 blank answers and with "undefined" for the score. I'm going to try adding an empty question with 0 as score. maybe that will work.

I always use a couple more than what I need... For instance, if I need 7 rounds, I'll make sure I have at least 10 questions... Since the questions are drawn randomly, it reduces the numbers of problems for the last question. Good Luck!

On the Feud game, I'm having a problem getting "Host the game" to work. I can "Play the game" but when I click "host" it goes to the team name screen and I can change the options but when I click "Use these names" nothing happens.
Also, I like the idea of being able to change the name of the game on the main screen.

Once again, shoot me an email (the one that's on the ReadMe file)... There's a few glitches in Flash Player 10 that's causing me headaches... :-( I have a Flash update that may work, but I'll have to email it to you... Have a great day! ~mc
