I designed this for my 2nd graders a few years back, and these are the landforms they had to know: continent, ocean, river, lake, plain, mountain, valley, peninsula, island. Hope this helps. :)

Are you viewing these slides in slideshow mode? I know that I say in my description that I use advanced ppt techniques like fades and overlaps. The slides look odd in edit mode, but if you click on them as a slide show, the animations should work. I just checked this ppt and it works fine in slideshow mode. Please try it this way and if you still have trouble, email me at mdw3437@yahoo.com and I'll see if I can send it in googledocs or another way.

Hi! This one is one page, double sided, or two pages, depending on how you copy it. There are 20 run-on sentences to fix. I believe I took my 4th graders real run-on sentences and used them to make this page. :)

Sorry, but I teach in a K-5 building, so I haven't touched the grade 7 stuff. I'm glad you like the anticipation guides. :) I spend a lot of time on them, so it's good when someone else can get some use out of them.

Well, the unit covers 4th grade fractions, according to the Illinois State Standards. I have also used it with 6th and 3rd graders, and I can show you how to modify it up, if you'd like. The unit is linked with the state standards completely. What I did is I made a 20 question pre and post test, with each question representing a standard the kids had to master. Then I grouped all the 4th grade classes by skill. For example, all the kids who understood equivalencies went together, and so did the kids who only understood how to fill in a picture to represent a fraction. Then, there are mini lessons on the standards, so you can differentiate.
It does not go into decimals, but I have some additional stuff I can send you if you purchase the fractions unit. Please just email me at mdw3437@yahoo.com.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I've been teaching since 2000. I taught sheltered 6th grade in a low-income district near Chicago for 4 years, and 3rd and 4th grade for two years. I also taught 2nd and 3rd grade summer school. I earned National Board Certification in 2008. I currently work as an ESL/ELL specialist teacher for K-5. I do both small group (pull-out) teaching as well as co-teaching in regular classrooms.
MY TEACHING STYLE
My teaching style involves encouraging a lot of student participation. My students use cooperative learning activities throughout the day, and many of my materials are for use with small groups of students. I tend to incorporate fun graphics to get students excited about their assignments.
