This is also my first year using common core math standards. I have not aligned these activities with common core, so it is not noted on the product which standards are met. But many of our 1st grade standards are met through these activities. I have not made the daily data packs for Oct, Nov, Dec, or Jan yet but after I do I plan on putting them all together as a big set and setting a lower proce for all of them. But, I'm going slow and just doing one per month so that won't happen for a while. Email me at mjtmcmurray@gmail.com and I'll send you part of one of the packs to see if you want to use them or not. Oh my, 30 first graders! I hope they are wonderfully sweet to you. I am finding I need more spots with my kids this week too. I have 22, but 17 of them chose the same answer. So I'll play with it tonight and see what I can do. It will just make the boxes teeny tiny. I'll re-upload it once I add more spaces.

I see from reading your other responses that you planned on having your Daily Data for August through January on your site. I found August and Feb through May. Am I missing the other months or haven't you posted them yet? I think this is something I would be interested in but I don't want to start something if I won't be able to continue as I do believe in consistency.

I love how easily this is understandable with clear directions. I teach kindergarten and I wonder if your samples get into 2 digit numbers or how relevant would your cards be for kindergarten--how much might I need to adapt?

They do get into two digits and one week is the number 100. Some of the clues get into multiplexer of 5 and 10 which I just explain means a # you say when you count by 5 or 10. It also gets into tens and ones and odds and evens. I think if you just use a 100's chart and mark numbers off that it couldn't be-based on the clues- your kids will be able to see patterns and make pretty accurate guesses. I start with small numbers (1-20) for the first few months before I jump to the larger numbers. It's definitely geared more towards first grade I'd say but that's not to say kinders aren't capable. I hope that helps!

I love your daily data idea!! I teach in Canada and I was wondering how much "American" stuff is included- I think most of our holidays are the same with the exception of our "Thanksgiving" being in October while yours is November. If there much "US" only content or do you think it will be okay for my little Canucks? :)

So sorry I'm just now responding! My mind is on summer break! Thank you so much for the kind words!! I have tried to include all the big and little holidays but like you said, I think it's all stuff that would apply to you too with the exception of Thanksgiving. I haven't made the pack for November yet, but I do plan to include Thanksgiving. I'm including 5 weeks worth of materials for each month and you would usually only need 4 of the 5 weeks so if there is one that you don't think fits in you could skip it and still have enough to last the whole month. Hope that helps. I hope to have August through January posted later this month.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
This is my 9th year teaching; my 8th in first grade. I love teaching children at this age. They are excited to learn and love school! In first grade children make progress so quickly and you can really see them learning new things. I love to see the light come on in their eyes when they are catching on to something new- so rewarding!
MY TEACHING STYLE
Reading block consumes most of my day and it is set up as a "workshop". I teach small reading groups while other students complete independent work stations. Lately I've been trying to set up math in the same way. By teaching smaller groups of students at a time I can individualize my lessons to better meet their needs.
