I taught first grade for 5 years before deciding to switch to part time and spend more time with my kids. I now teach preschool for a private Christian Preschool and teach my own preschoolers at home in the afternoon. I create all of my own curriculum and I am the founder and operator of Edlah Preschool Resources at edlah.com.
I like to have fun and connect my fun activities to the skills my kids are learning. Occasionally, I do have my kids doing paper and pencil activities because I believe they need to know how. However, I try to make as many things as possible hands on learning experiences. We like to have fun! Kids learn best when they learn through exciting and engaging experiences in their everyday life. Everyday Learning is our motto!
The best honor a teacher can get is to see a child learn. Seeing that sparkle in their eye when they finally understand a hard concept is worth so much more than any award I've ever been given by my school district. My notebooks full of notes from my students are my most valued awards and the only ones that really matter.
I graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe KS with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and have taken technology in education classes with Baker University in Baldwin KS. I am also currently taking several online design courses. I love to learn and currently spend a lot of my time learning design. My newest passion includes learning Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
I have a two wonderful kids and an amazing husband. We are extremely active in our church and love to spend time trying new types of foods from around the world and playing games with our friends and family. Check out my website, edlah.com.
