Hi Melissa,

I recently purchased you novel unit for "Night". It is wonderful. However, I did not receive the quickwrites with my file. Not sure if I downloaded it wrong bit everything else showed up. I was wondering if there is a way for me to get those. I would really love to add them to my lessons.

Thank you.

**Edited to let you know that the Quick-writes are now included! Please download again.

Thank you for your compliment about the unit! I'm glad you like it. I just downloaded it, too, to see what happened and you're right, the quick-writes are not there :( I am at work now, but all of my TPT work is on my home computer. When I get home from school today I will find the quick-writes and load them for you. I'm so sorry about the error, but thank you for calling my attention to it. I will fix it for you today.

Thank you again for your purchase; I truly appreciate your business!

Yes, I'd be happy to do an annotation unit for The Odyssey. Do you have a specific time that you need it? Also, any specific stories you'd like me to focus on?

Please feel free to respond here, or you can email me directly at mrs.soeltz@hotmail.com

Hope this works. Thank you for your puchase(s)!!

I uploaded a newer version of the unit, so you can go into "My Puchases" and re-download the product.

In it, I included 2 of my models (Passage 2 and Passage 5) as well as a reformatted version of the student model (Passage 1). I additionally added an essay prompt, focusing on the repeated idea of Courage.

Again, I stand by the belief that the teacher should always do the assignment first to decide the focus he/she wants to take with the class, but I did decide to add the two extra models to give you some focus. I have had great feedback from the unit, and it is one of my best-sellers, so I hope you have good luck as well.

Thanks. I was hoping for support in finding the literary devises as you did in the first to have support with that. So if you have anything else to support the other lessons to help us find those it would be greatly appreciated. I was super excited about getting the To Kill a Mockingbird download but I am a little confused. I only see an example for the first chapter and no model for the other chapters. I was expecting that this would have models for each chapter to guide me when instructing my daughter. Please let me know if I have overlooked he other models. Thanks.

I included the original model to show what I do when I teach the Close Reading passages. Because reading analysis is always open to interpretation, I suggest the teacher do the annotations first, based on what you are focusing on in instruction. There are so many ways to annotate and close read, that I didn't want to narrow the focus to only my interpretation. I'm assuming you are in a homeschool situation? A good strategy would be to do a think-aloud together as you both read through and notice different elements and annotate both your thoughts. I hope these suggestions work well for you :)

I LOVE your TKAM stuff. I'm interested in how you "do" your courtroom reads in class for those chapters. I noticed you mentioned you hand out scripts...If you wouldn't mind sharing your ideas, I would love to hear them. I'm getting ready to tackle those chapters late next week and I'm designing my plan now. I knew I wanted to do somthing like what you described, but I'm not sure where to start.

If yes, what would you charge for this service? I am homeschooling my daughter through, Visions in Education, and any outside help I could get would be great!

Hi! I liked this ppt, but it did leave me a little confused at first when you added the color - your numbering went sequentially from one to two, but it threw me for a loop at first when the third color started with number one again. All in all, though, I found it useful and plan on using it in class this year. Thank you for sharing.

Hello,

Thank you so much for the books I bought. I am curious to what other books you are selling. I need books that really hold my students attention. You did include a note with the books but I have misplaced it. I have gone onto your store but cannot seem to locate other books you have to sell. I teach 7th grade in an inner-city so keeping their attention is a task. I am going to start literature circles with them very soon but need books first!

Thank you so much.

Hi, I'm glad that the books got there! I am selling the following literature circle packs: "Hero" by SL Rottman, "Miracles Boys" by Jacqueline Woodson, and "Touching Spirit Bear" by Ben Mikaelsen. All of the protagonists in these novels, like in "Silent to the Bone" are teenagers going through a struggle. They deal with issues of abuse, crime, family, and grief. I have had great success using all of the books. Here is a link again to my teacher store where they are listed with much more detailed descriptions(I fixed the problem): http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Melissa-Soeltz

Also, please take a moment to leave me some feedback from your other purchase. And good luck with the literature circle! They are one of my favorite class activities (I also have some Lit Circle Resources listed, too). Thanks, Melissa
