maranblynn re: Nouns and Verbs Word Sort I and II
I downloaded and plan to use your product. It looks really nice and am excited to use it. I would suggest, however, that you change "screw." I don't want to be crude, but I'm sure that we'd all like to avoid those uncomfortable conversations with our young students who unfortunately know too much adult slang.

Hi Michelle,

I like your Edward Tulane booklet and plan to buy it. I read it this year and it was such a wonderful story! I also teach 2nd grade. I'm also in Ga. I am curious if you have a blog I can follow?? You may email me if that helps: amber8279@aol.com.

God Bless,
Amber

Hi Michelle- I just bought your creative writing prompts and love them! Any chance that you have created just a lined sheet for page 2 of the stories? I would like to do a front/back thing and want the lines and font to match up. It is petty, I realize, but i can just see my 2nd graders getting confused by a new font if I created it. Thanks!

cageytoo re: Learning About Subtraction with Regrouping
Hi Michelle
This activity looks great. Any chance you could change the wording from "borrowing" to regrouping?" I'm trying to keep the math vocabulary we use consistent (as there is a ton of it!) and would definitely consider purchasing it is the words were changed. Thanks so much for your hard work!

mhercy re: Homophones Match-Up
How often would you use something like this homophone activity as a center activity?

Hey! Mhercy we build center activities into our day each day as review of skills that we have already taught. I spend about 10-15 minutes each day on centers for Math and the same amount on centers for Language Arts/Grammar. I have seen great success by constant review of previously taught skills.
I have extended this center activity by having students pick 3 sets of homophones (from the set) and drawing pictures for each one, or by having them write sentences with 3 sets of words. I hope this helps! Have a great weekend!!!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently in my 13th year of teaching. I began my teaching experiences in middle school, but went on to teach elementary school and have taught 5th, 4th, and have been in 2nd grade for 7 years. Second grade has been my favorite grade to teach! I love all of my 2nd grade students!!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I can't really say that I have one type of teaching style. I have very diverse students that require me to teach in a variety of ways. I am always changing what I do to better meet the needs of my students.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My Teacher is Tops-13 WMAZ award-1999 Win With Classworks award winner-2008 I think this is the best HONOR that I have been given-- For the past 10 years, I have been given the wonderful opportunity and honor to teach students that struggle to learn or have not been successful at school. It is my goal to make sure that when these students leave me that they love school and are performing where they need to be. My ultimate goal is to make kids LOVE to learn. It has been my honor to have been given the opportunity to teach these students for this many years. It is the most rewarding feeling when you see a student become successful at something they couldn’t do well at the beginning of the year.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a Bachelor's degree in Middle grades education (certified to teach all subjects), a Master's degree in Elementary education, a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. I aspire one day to be an administrator, but for now I am SUPER happy with teaching 2nd graders!!!

ALL of my profit on TPT is dedicated to go back to my students whether it be purchasing cool new lesson ideas to get them excited (on TPT), or buying them books that they can read in my classroom. Please follow my blog on: http://www.michelle-davis.blogspot.com
