Looks great. I intend using it tomorrow on our first day of the new school year to help with social interaction etc. Thanks. What age do you teach? Am I correct in thinking that my Year 7/8 class in New Zealand is equivalent to grade 6 in the USA? They are 11 and 12 year olds at this time of the year. :)

I found this activity to be much less rigorous than the work I expect from my middle schoolers. Although it did guide them in finding the metaphors in each stanza, it did nothing to help them analyze or make meaning out of these metaphors.

After purchasing this product for use in a middle school poetry unit, I was really not impressed with the level of rigor of the activity. It simply provided the text of the three poems and then a three-circle Venn Diagram to compare/contrast them. I really expected something that would be a bit more rigorous in structuring students' thinking and pushing them towards critical analysis of the poems, and that was just not evident in this activity.
