This is my eleventh year as an English/Language Arts teacher. I have worked with many different students from those who are at-risk to Advanced Placement. I've created several online courses and currently teach hybrid classes using Moodle.
I try to incoporate technology as well as the students' interests and abilities in my classroom as much as possible. I am a strong believer in active learning. I attempt to find creative and fun ways to teach materials. I also endeavor to foster a sense of community in each class and engage students in activities that encourage them to be thoughtful and socially-involved citizens of tomorrow.
Some of my accomplishments include: Outstanding Student-Teacher Award for Rollins College, Outstanding First-Year Teacher Award for my school and county, Outstanding Minority Teacher Award for my school and county, Teacher of the Year for my school and county, Jaycee's Outstanding Young Teacher of the Year for the state of Florida, two Disney's Teacheriffic Outstanding Program Awards...
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rollins College in 2001. My major was English and my minor was Secondary Education.
I married my high school sweetheart in 2001. In 2007, my husband and I began the adoption of our now five-year old daughter. Later that same year, my husband accepted the call to become a pastor and we opened the doors to the ministry God has given us called "Victorious Living Christian Worship Center."
