I have been teaching fifth grade for three years now. I love my students and I enjoy coming up with creative ways to keep them engaged and learning!
We do lots of hands-on work in our classroom. I like to think of out-of-the-box ways to make students intrigued by the content we are learning. I am a proponent of student-led instruction in which students teach students while the teacher solely poses guiding questions.
Magic 104.1's Teacher of the Week, Teacher of the Year Nominee
I graduated with my Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish from Oklahoma State University in December of 2009. Through a special study-abroad program at my university, I was able to do my student teaching in an English-submersion elementary school in Costa Rica. I taught reading and writing to fifth grade students who were fluent in both English and Spanish, and often many other languages. I lived with a Spanish-speaking family and was able to sharpen my language skills through that experience.
Along with teaching, I am passionate about health and exercise. Although, I do allow myself the occasional chocolate binge :) I am an avid reader, a guitar player, and I have a keen talent for mischief.
