I have been teaching in special education (elementary) for 5 years. Before that I substituted in high school, mostly mathematics, for 2 years. However, I have been working with children for 15+ years as a tutor, camp counselor, and babysitter. I know teaching takes a lot of patience, love, flexibility, and creativity! I hope I have something that enhances or supports your teaching style!
I teach special education so I know students need a lot of different activities throughout the day to keep them motivated and on task. I usually start with whole group instruction and then break up into small differentiated groups so I have a chance to meet with them. In groups, students review material from that day, week, or unit. Sometimes the students pick their partners or groups, other times I decide. I'm always up for trying new methods and techniques!
I was "Teacher of the Month" at Huntington Learning Center. They said it was because they appreciated my enthusiasm, flexibility, reliability, and creativity.
I graduated from Rowan University with a B.A. in Elementary Education and Mathematics. I also received the Teacher of Students with Disabilities Endorsement. I am currently taking courses through my district and The University of Pennsylvania to further my reading education. I attended a course at St. Joseph’s University about Behavior Discipline to help with students with behavioral concerns.
I LOVE to scrapbook and do crafty activities. My students know to keep a smile on their face because my camera is always just a few feet away, if not on me. I recently got engaged to a wonderful man and am enjoying every minute of planning my wedding for November 2013! I'm looking forward to many years of teaching and learning ahead!
