This is my third year of teaching. So far I have taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 1 Lab, Algebra II, Geometry Lab, and ACT Test Prep. I am also on my school's literacy team, the Student Council sponsor, and the department head.
My teaching style is evolving to focus on team work where each team member has a role and lessons where students work as a team through a scaffolded investigation to discover new concepts on their own, as opposed to lecture. I try to balance between discovery and direct instruction. My main focus has been to try more activities that have students active in the classroom as well as creating activities that are self-checking by nature. In the future, I am planning to flip the classroom so that students receive new learning through student created tutorials and class time is spent practicing and applying new concepts.

I graduated from a very small high school and went on to a small community college. From there I transferred to a large university. Previously I had been a top student but when I began university math classes I struggled. That experience helped shape the way that I want to reach and teach my students and also the reason why I am teaching at my alma mater high school. I am currently in a Master's degree program cohort with my colleagues to receive my degree in Teacher Leadership.
I am currently pursuing my master's degree in Teacher Leadership.
