AWESOME JOB! Your planner is great! I like the idea, but I need very different page from the ones in your planner. Would you be able to customize it for me for the next school year? Or do you have any tutorials on how to create your own planner?

Hi there coach07,

If you email me at missmathdork@gmail.com we can talk about your planner needs. Please send me the details of what you are looking for. I'm out of town today, but will be able to sit down and look at your request later tonight or tomorrow.

I sent a message to TPT support as well, but this was actually in my cart already when I decided to purchase your entire store (and so glad I did)!!

MissMathDork  (TpT Seller)
Hi Dena! Wow, thanks so much for grabbing the store. Unfortunately, as a seller I do not have the power to refund, however TpT support can. If they don't contact you back, let me know, and we can work something out to make up for extra money sent.

So sorry that you grabbed both! Feel free to email me at missmathdork@gmail.com if you have any questions or support doesn't get everything worked out.

I just purchased the surface area vs volume activity. Is there not an answer key already worked out for this activity? I saw in a previous comment thread that there are answer keys and they are free but where do I download them from?
March 25, 2014
MissMathDork  (TpT Seller)
Hi there!

The answer key is embedded in the activity. Each page represents either surface area or volume. It would be very simple for you to just keep on set of the activity stapled and at hand.

Hope this helps!

Math Made Gr8  (TpT Seller) re: Creating a Chain of Pi
How many copies of each number do you recommend making?
March 12, 2014
MissMathDork  (TpT Seller)
Hi there! It depends on how many chains you are making. Because my class is small (10 students), I decided to have them work together to make one large chain. We're doing the entire 1000 digits (YIKES!). I printed 7 pages of each and I think we're going to have more than (I just need to file it somewhere that I can grab the extras next year!). Also, to make the chain a bit sturdier, and a not as long, we cut each length in half to make it shorter (not thinner). This has given us WAY more pieces than we need BUT the chain is pretty sturdy and well over 30 feet. I can't wait to see how long it will be when it's done. We are going to hang it up in the cafeteria for all to see. The students are very proud of it!

Hope this helps! I plan to post pictures on my blog tonight if you are interested in seeing what we have made (www.missmathdork.com) :) Best Wishes!

On your teacher planner, is there anyway I can send you a template of how I would like my weekly lesson plans to look like and you can make it fit with the rest of the theme? And can I send other things and the order I want it???
March 5, 2014
MissMathDork  (TpT Seller)
Hi there!

You are welcome to send me templates of how you would like it set up. If you have clipart, it must have been purchased for personal/commercial use, it cannot be just pulled from the internet. I can absolutely put it in the order that you would like. The planner comes with 82 pages in it. If you would like more than 82 pages, you will need to purchase an additional license as well as creating each custom pages takes extra time. Keep in mind that when having a book printed in color, that color pages usually run between 50 and 70 cents a piece. If you have any other questions, or would like me to look at the ideas you have first, feel free to email me at missmathdork@gmail.com

Perfect! It sounds like it is really easy to pull those properties out. That was my biggest concern! :) Properties are already a pretty new thing for them to be able to identify, and I know that I'd have a small revolt in my class if I threw those at them as well. Thanks for your quick response!

Esther G  (TpT Seller) re: Property Progression (an algebraic property board game)
Do you sell the pre algebra and algebra versions separately as well? I don't need the algebra version, but I definitely love the idea behind this!
January 25, 2014
MissMathDork  (TpT Seller)
Hi Esther,

The two versions are virtually identical, with the exception of a few properties: transitive, reflexive, symmetric, and the axioms of equality and inequality.

I didn't make two versions so there would be a "different" version, but more so that it was be easier to print one vs the other depending which properties you used. When you download the game, you can unzip the version that works better for you.

I hope this helps! Enjoy!

What suggestions do you have when the number of students in your class is not evenly divisible by 4?

I am interested in your planner, once I order it, do I fill out a form on how I want it personalized and can I make multiple copies for myself?
November 27, 2013
MissMathDork  (TpT Seller)
Hi there,

Yes, once you order it you will download it and fill out the proper information to have your planner made. You are welcome to make copies for yourself, personally, but not to be sold. The planner that I make is best printed professionally at a print center such as Office Max, Office Depot, Staples, etc. You are able to print it on a home computer, but the images often don't print as vividly, and the pages won't be double sided, or bound.

My blog post, http://www.missmathdork.com/2013/06/the-perfect-personalized-planner.html, will help you see the process that most use to have their planner print, and bound.
If you have other questions, feel free to email me at missmathdork@gmail.com

Thanks!

Buyer re: Seasonal and Holiday Relay template BUNDLE ALL TEN - Personal Use Only!
I am interested in your relay products, but am confused. Although the ability to use them for any content area is appealing, I like the math content questions I see for some relays in your store. What do I receive when I purchase the bundle? Does it come with the math questions, as well as the ability to use it for other subjects?

August 13, 2013
MissMathDork  (TpT Seller)
Good afternoon!

My relay bundle is a bundle of the 10 seasonal templates. None of the templates contain any content - they were created for teachers to be able to use them with any content, and reuse them for different contents for different classes or should they change grades. The bundle is set at a 20% discount for buying all 10 relays.

I do have a few math content specific relays and they are available as a separate item. They are not bundled as they meet various levels of mathematics and might not be used by the same teacher. If you would like something specific created using math content and a specific relay, please feel free to email me and give me the details of what you would like made and I would happily add it to my list of things to make.

Hi MissMathDork

I just bought your Beach Bum Relay template and it looks fantastic. I feel like an idiot asking this, but I've never seen one of these in action. I can sort of imagine how I'll use it, but I just wanted to know one of your ideas for filling in a card. What would you put for where it says "put directions here" and "type here?"
Sorry to bother you, I hope you can help me out. I also hope it's not glaringly obvious and I'm wasting your time. You're making such great supplies, I don't want to take you away from that!!
Hope to hear from you

Hiya! Don't feel bad asking anything! Check out this freebie and see if it helps!

http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Frosty-Relay-A-fun-way-to-review-integers-expressions-properties-equations-415603

Typically I pick a different "topic" for each round for example adding fraction with like denominators - then I made 4 problems that go with that topic. The directions would be something as simple as "Add each of the fractions below. Make sure your answer is in simplest form" Then I would type a problem for each of the areas where is says "type here". Basically, you can put any types of problems for any type of review you want. If you look around in my store, you will see examples with fractions, decimals and whole number computation as well as a St Patrick's version of Mean, Median, Mode and Range. I had many requests to make templates so that teachers could make their own reviews for various levels of students.

If the freebie example, and my explanation don't help, you may want to check out my blog www.missmathdork.com There are a few examples of how I've used the relays on there. Also, feel free to email me at missmathdork@gmail.com :) I'd be happy to help you out any way possible!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Jeniver Boyer  (TpT Seller) re: How many solutions to a system?
Wondering if you have any advice for working with dyslexic children who struggle with math as well as reading. Thanks! Love that you are in WV too!
May 26, 2013
MissMathDork  (TpT Seller)
Hi Jeniver! Typically when I have students with dyscalculia (reversing numbers) or dysgraphia (rotating/flipping shapes/graphs) I have them use graph paper for all problems they do. The lines on the graph paper help keep their mind a bit more focused on placing one value in each box. Also, try putting less problems on a page so that it is less overwhelming. If you don't want to make a whole new page of problems, you could also take a file folder and cut a whole into it so they can slide the paper and only see a problem at a time - kind of like blinders on a horse - helps the zoom into what they are working on and not be overwhelmed. It also keeps their mind from wondering and seeing all the peripherals that sometimes add to their brain switching numbers on them.

Donna W. re: Math Clock Buddies!
This might be a stupid question, but I'm not sure how you use this activity to find partners. Could you please explain.

Thank you.
Donna
April 9, 2013
MissMathDork  (TpT Seller)
Hi Donna,

I'm so sorry there weren't directions. I will make sure to add them. Clock buddies are super popular at my school so I didn't even think to add them!!

Okay, quick synopsis... (think appointments!)
Have students walk around the room and make appointments. If you are my 1 o'clock appt, then I put your name at 1:00 and you put mine on your paper. Continue until the entire sheet is filled in with no repeats. Keep the paper in a convenient place.

When you need a partner activity and you want to "randomize" the partners tell your kiddos to go meet their 3 o'clock appt, or their 10 o'clock appt. etc... This way everyone is partnered quickly ad efficiently.

If you want to save some time, you could only do 4 appointments, 3, 6, 9, 12. Really, it's up to you.

If this doesn't make sense send me an email at missmathdork@gmail.com and I can write you a much more detailed response :)

Thanks for the idea to add directions to the sheet!

Carey Prantalos  (TpT Seller) re: Function Match-up: matching functions, graphs, mappings, tables and notation
Is it possible to make a version of this without function notation as it is not needed in 8th grade common core? Let me know! Thanks so much!
April 8, 2013
MissMathDork  (TpT Seller)
Hi prantalos,

There are 6 pages to the activity. Each page shows the same 8 functions represented differently. If you haven't taught function notation, then you just can leave that page out, or not print it. It won't effect the matching. It will just mean that there are 5 total matching cards per function instead of 6. The activity was made so that people could use whichever version of the functions that were appropriate for them. If you still want it without the function notation page, let me know, and I can upload a version for you, or after purchasing, you can email me at missmathdork@gmail.com and I'll send you the specific version.

I hope that made sense, if not, feel free to email me and we'll chat :)

Sahra Sheida  (TpT Seller)
Hello!
Thank you for such a prompt reply. I purchased the template for personal use. I definitely prefer the template because the questions can be adapted to any content area and any standard. I teach a 4/5 split. We used it as a math review. Great review to prepare for the upcoming state test. I used the template to create 10 questions that covered everything from decimals, fractions, geometry, statistics, etc. I love that all students are responsible for a question and yet they also have the support of their teammates if they need help. I also love that different kids bring up their problem to be checked by the teacher. Keeps them all involved! :) The drawing of the picture is fun as well.
I would really like to use another one before the end of the school year. I'm trying to think of other holidays/events coming up that could relate to a theme. Even something related to the end of the school year/summer. Just some quick thoughts for themes - summer/beach, Memorial Day/something patriotic, Mother's Day/flowers.
Thinking ahead to a new school year, some possible themes could be - back to school, Halloween/jack-o-lantern, Thanksgiving turkey, etc.

Looking forward to purchasing new relay products. Thanks!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently in my 8th year of teaching. I am a licensed 6-12 math teacher and a K-8 Math Specialist. I have worked with many levels of children, but mainly middle school. I currently serve as a Math Specialist for my school as well as a resource teacher for grades 5-8 helping them with skills from K-their math level.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love to teach with games and hands-on activities. Many of my products include games, sorts, and hands-on ways of learning. All of my products have been tested in my classroom, or by a classroom in my school. My teachers help me edit games and come up with ways to make them better before they are placed online.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended the College of William and Mary from 2001-2005 and received my B.S. in Mathematics. While there I also attended the W&M School of Education and received my Virginia Teaching License. While teaching at a local school, I continued my education at W&M getting my MA.Ed as a K-8Math Specialist. During that time, I worked full time as a middle school Algebra and Geometry teacher and then later on a grant at W&M as a specialist for inner-city schools who were struggling to make AYP and meet state accreditation.
