I just updated this product to include a completed student example outline, as well as a finished response to literature essay using this outline. Unfortunately, I do not have a rubric to share as the one I use was created by my district and I'm not allowed to sell that one. However, the rubric is simply based off of the Common Core State Standards for Writing (W6.1, W7.1, W8.1, or W9-10.1), which you can find at this address:

There is a rubric included which is out of 100 points and lists each piece of the project (with detailed descriptions) and how much is piece is worth.

The "books" include one the student create of the 7 articles of the Constitution, which students can make out of folded paper (in half). The other book is a zigzag book created from a strip of paper of 6 pages folded back and forth including the steps of how a bill becomes a law. However, both of these "books" could be created in any other fashion. Hope this works for you! It's always been a fun project for my students! :)

It's a strategy, which stands for:
Somebody (Character) Wanted (what do they want/desire), But (what conflict do they encounter), So (what happens in the end/what is the resolution)
For example,
S: Cinderella, W: Wanted to go to the ball, B: her stepmom made her stay home, S: her fairy godmother helped her get there

Is there an easy way to return to the first slide? I'm guessing that either the teacher or a helper student must keep track of the questions that have already been answered.

On each "answer" slide, there is a "home" button in the bottom right corner that should take you back to the home page, or game board.

I usually print out the first slide and have a student or myself cross off the ones that have already been answered and another student who is the scorekeeper keeping track of the points on the whiteboard. In PowerPoint, you can also use the pen or highlighter when playing the presentation (it's located in the bottom left corner) to cross off each point value that has already been answered as you play, so that students know which questions have already been chosen/answered. I hope this helps! Thank you for the purchase!

I apologize for any confusion and hope you were able to download the entire file with the blank templates at the end. Thank you for the purchase!

Sarah G. re: Newspaper Project - Maya, Aztec, & Inca
Hi Monica,

I wanted to know how big the newspaper should be? Do you have them do it on 8.5x11 paper or larger? Do you have them write it or type it? Are they required to have graphics? How much writing or information do you require for all the sections? Do you require all the sections or allow them to pick and choose?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions, but I really like this project and my students like clear instructions.

Thanks,
Sarah

Monica Lukins  (TpT Seller)
I usually have them complete this project in small groups of 4 and I scatter Maya, Aztec, and Inca among those groups. For example, one group of 4 creates a Maya newspaper with each student completing 2-3 different articles each. I have done this project with both paper and PowerPoint. On paper, the students have used 8.5x11 paper for their articles (some typed articles, some did by hand) and then they pasted them on large butcher paper that I had cut out for them from the office (so it looked like a real newspaper, folded in the middle, about the same size). Now that my students each have a netbook, I've had them complete this project on PowerPoint slides and merge their slides into one presentation at the end to make it an "online newspaper". I require at least 50-100 words for each article (50 for example, for weather, 100 for a front page news article). I require each article to have at least one picture. I require all of the sections and allow them to choose in their groups, or I've also had them pick out of a bag to make it random and fair. :) Hope this clarifies! Enjoy! :)

If you're referring to the "Back to School - Facebook, iPhone, Twitter" product, I do have a PowerPoint however the templates are not editable. I had created the templates just as a model and then took snippet pictures of them and added them to the PowerPoint so that now they are only images. I could still send you the PowerPoint if you wish to give me your email. However, I also sell "Social Media templates - text messaging, Facebook, and Instagram" that are an editable PowerPoint here: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Social-Media-Templates-Text-Messaging-Facebook-Instagram

Buyer re: Persuasive Essay - Revision Worksheet
On your Persuasive Essay - Revision Worksheet, does it have anything beyond the "Draw a wavy line under the call to action?" It seems, even in the thumbnail, that the chart is open at the bottom. Not a big deal, just want to make sure there isn't anything else that is supposed to appear next. I see nothing where one might total up or work to assess an essay as a whole. Certainly it leaves it open for suggestions that could be written on the back of the page.

I apologize. The PDF must have cut off the bottom line. Yes, that is the end of the sheet. Comments and suggestions can be added in the right-hand column under each rating, but definitely the back could be used for more reflection. This sheet is mainly used to help the student revise their essay for a final grade and that is why it doesn't include a final grade section, but feel free to modify! :)

Yes! I added the answer key to the product and uploaded it to TPT again. You should be able to go to "My Purchases" at the top of your screen and download the product again for FREE with the answer key. Thanks for the suggestion and purchase! :)

Hi Monica, this is a great project. Do you have a rubric with it? I am trying to create one but I thought maybe you had one instead. Let me know as soon as possible. Thanks.

Rebecca White  (TpT Seller) re: Greek and Latin Roots Vocabulary and Spelling
I'm very disappointed with this because it is in PDF form. It did not include a listing of all roots and vocab words in a usable format (such as Word or Excel). It included a space for a 10 word spelling test, but didn't explain what words would be included in the spelling test. I would like to take that part out, but because I can't edit the PDF file, I will have to recreate the sheet, rather than just edit the sheet. I wish I hadn't purchased this file. IS it possible for you to give this to me as a Word document?

I now have the Word documents...if you'd like them, please send me your email address and I can forward them to you.

I apologize that you were not pleased with this product, as I always strive to make usable and helpful products. The reason it is in PDF form (which--the forma--is always displayed on the each product before you purchase it), is because I had to take paper copies of each list/test and scan them into a copier to create ONE PDF file in order to sell it together as a unit. At the time, I did not have a way to merge all the files together digitally. I created these lists over 10 years ago, so I'm not sure if I have Word documents to send to you, but I will definitely check on my computer at school, as soon as I get to school tomorrow. Also, to clarify the tests...I would have students study all 20 words on the list and inform them that half of the words they would be tested on for spelling and the other half for definitions--but I wouldn't tell them which 10 for spelling and which 10 for definitions. That way they studied all words for spelling and definitions. Then, on the test itself, the bottom half includes half of the words already for matching words to definitions. Therefore, the other half of the words on the list (that are NOT in the matching section) they would be tested on for spelling (that should explain the 10 blank spaces). I hope this clarifies and helps!

To be honest, I've been creating assignments/lessons on my own since I started teaching 12 years ago and now I've just found a way to get paid for it all! ;) I try to be really descriptive when I post things to sell and try to comment on each customer's purchase when they leave a comment or rating. I also take suggestions into account and constantly revise my products to please the buyers. I try to post a new product at least once a month too, so that my followers are informed and reminded of my products too. Hope this helps! :) Good luck to you too!
