This is a great resource to supplement our study of the Civil War! I love activities where the kids discover and learn on their own and this fits the bill!
This was great! My class was able to watch snippets and record what they saw and then create the Front Page News. I even had one of our local newspaper reporters come in and speak to the students. It made my third graders feel like feel authors and it was connected to the real world. Thanks for the resources!
This was an outstanding activity! My class had a great time writing 'Front Page News' based on election night coverage. It was a great lesson in staying 'neutral' and writing in 3rd person!

melissash re: Civil War Battle Book
I'm teaching at a tutoring agency and we are reading Gary Paulsen's book, Soldier's Heart. I was disappointed that there was no background material on any of the battles. It is basically ideas for a report format. Not what I needed. Civil War: Major Battles had more info for the teacher.
